Representatives of the union and its strategic yacht industry partners will be on hand from 25-27 September 2019, based in the ACREW lounge at La Rascasse restaurant. They look forward to meeting existing members, welcoming new members into the Union, and providing guidance on the Nautilus sea service verification process.
This will be the first time that visitors to a yacht show will be able to join Nautilus and receive their Commercial Yacht Service Record Book on the spot. All a seafarer needs to bring is a passport-sized photograph and their passport.

The union’s main offices are in London, Merseyside, Rotterdam and Basel, and the teams there have an impressive record of winning employment cases – dating back over 150 years. This expertise has recently been extended to a new tranche of members in the superyacht industry, with substantial financial settlements achieved in incidents where yacht crew have not been paid or denied repatriation costs. Advice and support are also offered with issues such as workplace injuries and bullying and harassment.
Another attraction of Nautilus membership is the Commercial Yacht Service Record Book. As an STCW-qualified yacht professional,
you’ll periodically need to revalidate your Certificate of Competency or apply for a Notice of Eligibility. In the UK, this means applying to the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) with your signed sea service testimonials (SSTs), which have to be verified.

The verification process can take the MCA up to six months, which is why the Agency has delegated the process to Nautilus.
When you join Nautilus, you are entitled to a fast and efficient verification service and a free Commercial Yacht Service Record Book – which, when properly completed, is accepted by the MCA as evidence of sea service without the need to be accompanied by SSTs or certificates of discharge.
