Eagle lands in Edinburgh
Eagle Plant Hire Ltd of Glasgow has established a new satellite operation in Edinburgh, with the support of an SME Cashflow finance package from Clydesdale Bank. Four new personnel have been added, bringing the total number of Eagle employees to 24, with more recruitment planned. MD Colin Inglis, pictured second from right with some of his team,
said, “Eagle have an extremely strong and loyal customer base which values the complete service we provide that integrates with each customer’s own operating platform. This has resulted in greater volumes of business being transferred to ourselves and, to provide the coverage and level of service expected, an East coast base was required.”
He added that the company has recently expanded its
management team, with the appointment of John Cummings and Iain MacDonald. “John has 40 years’ experience at senior management and ownership level in the tool and plant hire industry, and Iain has over 30 years’ sales and management experience in the industry in Scotland.” With growth in the existing operation and the new business
generation combined, Eagle is forecasting a 60% growth in turnover in the first full 12 months after the new Edinburgh site becomes fully operational.

Boels Rental has re-located its Hereford depot to a larger facility owing to continuous growth. The new site is on the Mortimer Trade Park in the town. Depot Manager Gary Willis said: “This new depot, which is located close to many builders’
merchants and DIY stores, has a training facility in which we can offer our customers various courses in safety, such as IPAF and PASMA. Furthermore, the product range will be expanded with larger access equipment, as well as mini excavators, compressors and more, so we can serve our customers even better.”
Nixon expands its tanker fleet Site Equip celebrates 30 years
Specialist hirer, Site Equip Ltd, recently celebrated 30 years of hiring portable toilets, luxury toilet trailers, mobile showers, fencing and trackway to the event and construction industries. Originally established by Sonia and Geoff
Gilbert, the business now has two depots at Lasham in Hampshire and Paddock Wood in Kent, over 60 full-time members of staff and a fleet of over 3,000 toilets. The next generation of the family, represented by Amy and Adam Gilbert (pictured), are now at the helm, and are winning business with clients such as London Fire Brigade, Carfest, Pub in the Park, and Standon Calling. One particular previous challenge came in
2012 when G4S pulled out of supplying security services for the London Olympic Games and the armed forces were brought in. Site Equip delivered over 100 portable toilets to service a temporary base for the troops, with less than 12 hours’ notice.
Nixon Hire has expanded its Iveco tanker fleet by adding three 26-tonne Stralis X-Way 6x4 rigid models. They complement three Trakker rigid tankers already in service and will supply clean water to customers across a range of markets. The vehicles also have the manufacturer’s patented HI-SCR emissions technology,
which utilises passive regeneration of the diesel particulate filter (DPF). As there is no need to make periodic stops for forced regeneration, states Iveco, operator productivity increases because no driver involvement is needed, or downtime from active regeneration. This also helps to deliver savings in fuel consumption and uses fewer components than some similar systems, reducing the need for replacement parts.
JPS Splashes out with Trime
JPS Tool and Access Hire of Waltham Abbey has taken delivery of an X-Splash wash bay from Trime UK to ensure plant and machinery are cleaned in an eco-friendly way The cleaning area is connected to the rear solids
collection tank section of the product, which recycles the water through a system of filters so that heavy solids are safely contained and easily removed. The dirty water is then pumped into the filtration tank where
a series of filters removes smaller solid particulates, hydrocarbons and oils for disposal. 7
