Helpful Helix from National Flooring Equipment


National Flooring Equipment’s Helix planetary grinder is a 40.6cm-wide machine incorporating an edge grinder, dual speed operation, an adjustable handle and a floating dust skirt. It is designed to be manoeuvred easily in hard-to-reach places and to grind and polish concrete in small commercial and residential applications. The American manufacturer’s President, Derek Olson, said, “Whereas the majority of


grinders are only able to reach within one and two inches [2.5cm to 5cm] of the wall, the Helix has a specifically-designed edge grinding portion that means it can reach within half an inch of the wall on the left or right side of the grinding head.”

Makita ties it together


Makita’s cordless DTR180ZK rebar tying tool is powered by a brushless motor for extended running time and increased power, and is compatible with both 14.4V and 18V Makita Lithium-ion batteries. It is designed to apply rebar ties


quickly and consistently, and automatically delivers double loop ties for a range of construction applications such as building concrete foundations. The user only needs to use one hand for single or continuous operation, allowing the other to remain free to adjust the position of the rebars. The applicator can tie rebars simply by


pushing the contact arm against them when the trigger is continuously pulled, says the manufacturer. Using a 5.0Ah battery, up to 120 ties of 0.8mm diameter annealed wire can be undertaken.
