EXECUTIVE REPORT

Green machines

The Saltex grounds care equipment exhibition took place once again at the NEC recently. EHN reports on some of the new products relevant to the hire industry.

Vanguard of power

Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power showed the Vanguard 200, a 6.5hp single-cylinder engine from a range developed for low vibration, reduced noise, easy starting and reduced maintenance costs. The manufacturer

states that the main components have been engineered to lower vibration levels by 15% and to give a sound level that is 40% quieter than some comparable models.

The engine can run for up to 200 hours between oil changes

and a cyclonic air filtration system, fitted as standard, extends the recommended filter replacement intervals to 600 hours.

New from Demon International is a mobile hose reel that can accept up to 100m of hose. It is designed to be particularly compact and manoeuvrable, being based on one of the company’s Mini Bowser pressure washer frames. The company believes it

will appeal to hirers who will be able to send one reel with a machine when users are cleaning in areas at some distance away, instead of sending typically two 30m reels with the possibility of one being misplaced.

three forward gears and one reverse, with a top speed of 3.5mph. 01566 777140

Wider option from Advanced KFS

Advanced KFS Special Vehicles displayed the Wide variant of its Plant & Go 3.5-tonne vehicle. It is 300mm wider to allow for the transportation of machines such as larger ride-on lawnmowers, giving an 1800mm load width between the wheel arches. The vehicle has a lightweight AL-Ko chassis with a low floor to

facilitate loading without lifting, and it can be driven by anyone over the age of 18 with a standard driving licence. Options include a recessed winch, storage lockers and mesh sides.
