MARKET REPORT COMPACT PLANT

Latest products Bobcat celebrates with benefits

Bobcat is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its first compact loaders with the announcement of new options on various skid steer, compact track and all-wheel steer loader models. These include an Auto Ride Control to improve operator comfort when

driving with a load in the bucket, especially on rough terrain, by locking in the travel speed. An Auto Reversing Fan is available to help keep a machine’s grille clean and to clear out dust that can clog the cooling system, and an LED Side Lights kit can be incorporated in the cab structure to enhance all-round visibility. Cushioned Lift and Tilt Cylinders are

now fitted as standard on the loaders’ lift arms. As the cylinders move towards the end of a stroke, the system restricts the flow of hydraulic fluid so that the cylinder is slowed down before it fully retracts. Bobcat says this increases overall performance and improves comfort, because the operator does not need to slow down the motion themselves when approaching the end of the stroke.

The manufacturer has also introduced the S100E skid steer loader,

pictured. Its compact dimensions of 1,878mm high, 2,262mm long without an attachment and a width over the tyres of 1,182mm allows the machine to manoeuvre efficiently in confined spaces. Power comes from a transverse- mounted Stage V-compliant Kubota engine providing 18.2kW of power at 2,300rpm. The S100E offers a rated operating capacity of 457kg and a tipping load of 915 kg, and it weighs 1,860kg.

During 2018, Yanmar has been celebrating the 50th anniversary of its first mini excavator, the YNB300. Today, it now offers a range of mini and midi excavators from 1 tonne to 12 tonne. Yanmar has announced a special edition livery for its SV60 model. A limited run of

ten will be made available through the company’s global dealer network. Sporting a distinctive red colour scheme, the machine weighs 5,635kg with rubber tracks. It has a maximum digging depth of 3,650mm or 3,945mm when fitted with a longer arm. The company states that, with Yanmar diesel engines at the heart of each

machine, it is able to deliver clean air solutions, low fuel consumption and optimum performance. Wheeled loaders and wheeled excavators are also available.

Launched earlier this year, JCB’s 15C-1 mini excavator is the fourteenth new model since the first of the manufacturer’s next-generation machines was introduced in 2014. Tipping the scales at 1.5 tonnes, the machine is available with a cab or canopy and has steel bodywork for impact protection and ease of repair. The 15C-1 is aimed primarily at the tool and equipment

hire market. It uses a shorter fixed undercarriage with single speed tracking, long pitch tracks and mechanical track tensioners. The higher specification 16C-1 is targeted at hirers offering larger plant hire model and has a variable width undercarriage for additional stability when digging and lifting. All next-generation JCB minis have ten tie-down points, positioned on the undercarriage and upper structure, to facilitate transporting the machine without risk of damage to rubber tracks. JCB also offers a tracked version of its Teleskid compact

telescopic boom machine for the European market. The 3TS-8T complements the wheeled 3TS-8W, offering a maximum load height of 4.1m and a forward reach of 2.25m. The extending boom raises maximum loadover height to

3.8m with the boom extended, almost 1m more than the standard retracted boom. In addition, the Teleskid, which weighs in at 5,722kg, delivers a forward reach at ground level of 2.25m and a maximum reach at full height of 1.7m, allowing the operator to load or unload a truck from one side.
