MATHER+STUART POWERS AHEAD
Mather+Stuart Power Solutions, the temporary power equipment division of A-Plant, has announced that it will be investing almost £8m in new equipment before the end of 2018. This aims to capitalise on new growth opportunities following a series of recent service centre openings across the UK. Phase one of the company’s investment has

Frank Key Tool Hire drives forward
Frank Key Tool Hire has recently purchased a new 7.5-tonne truck for its depot in Daybrook, Nottinghamshire, and reports that four new 3.5-tonne tail lift vehicles are expected to be delivered before the end of the year. The business, which has
depots throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire, recently undertook a customer research project and one of
the main findings was the importance of equipment availability and delivery. Frank Key has also added two new Forst wood chippers to its hire fleet,
and it plans to open a hire presence at its Sheffield builders’ merchant facility early in the New Year.
Hireforce nominated for Hire Network Award
The Birmingham depot of Hireforce has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Hire Network Award, which recognises excellent performance at an individual location. This branch is hoping to achieve a double, having won the Award in 2016. “We have dealt with Hireforce since it opened its first depot in Leicester.
It is a really good independent, always helpful and delivers well-maintained equipment efficiently,” Hire Network MD Barry Dean told EHN. Two other finalists will be selected before the end of the year, with the winner being announced at the Executive Hire Show.

tripling the size of our fleet from 650 generators in January 2016 to over 2,000 in August 2018.” Bryan Harris added, “We are proud to be able to
provide Mather+Stuart Solutions with the quality and durability required to meet their demands. Here at HGI, we pride ourselves on delivering a product far exceeding expectations, on time and on budget.”
GAP rolls out BigChange system
GAP has equipped 400 of its drivers with tablets as it rolls out a management solution from BigChange. Called JobWatch, the cloud-based system incorporates a range of mobile apps with live tracking and job scheduling. It also links in real time to the hirer’s back office systems, such as the central hire desk, financial system and customer relationship management (CRM). “The BigChange solution is transforming the way we work
by eliminating lots of cumbersome paper forms. The live data feeds to our central systems will result in significant benefits to the business by providing complete management visibility of our operations across the entire depot network,” said Mark Emery, GAP’s Systems Development Manager. The mobile apps include electronic signature capture with
proof of delivery (POD) and proof of collection (POC) records automatically uploaded onto GAP’s Smart Office system. Ultimately GAP’s customers will have the ability to access their hire records themselves.
