FURTHER DEVELOPING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN HIRERS AND SUPPLIERS Lively London
Held in Cobham, our recent London Executive Hire Road Show drew the biggest attendance yet for this location. Alan Guthrie talked to some of those who attended.
“The Road Show is great for networking,” said (from left) Sharon McVeigh, Heidi Russell and Natalie Broad from Hire Station-Brandon. “The talk on London emissions regulations was informative and it was good to hear about the latest developments for the main Executive Hire Show in Coventry next February.”
•
“I’m quite new to the hire industry, having previously worked for an electrical testing and thermal imaging equipment supplier, so the Road Show was a great way to learn more and make new contacts,” said Sharon Fernandes of Diamond Hire & Sales. “I’ve always been fascinated by plant and machinery, and I found the talk on emissions regulations very interesting.”
“We’ve done some great deals here,” said Kirsty Archbold-Laming and Lance Foster from Southern Hoist Services. “We’ve bought 116m of LED festoon lights from the Hire Supply Co, which are shockproof and waterproof, and we opened an account with the company today. We have also bought a low-level Klikfold unit from Euro Towers for clients undertaking work at ceiling height.”
“The Road Show is a great networking opportunity,” said Steve Marchant, Jewson Regional Tool Hire Manager. “Although equipment in our fleet is bought centrally, I come along to catch up on new products and industry developments. It’s also good to see old friends and contacts.”
9 Heidi Russell also spoke at
the recent HAE Conference - see page 37.
“The talk by CPA Chief Executive Kevin Minton on the government’s Clean Air Strategy and the latest plans for low or no-emission zones in London was very interesting,” said Daren (left) and David Hare of Hares Hire Services. “It shows that the subject of emissions is something to bear in mind when buying new machinery. At the event we touched base with suppliers including Snorkel, whose machines we have in the fleet.”
• Snorkel UK MD Andrew Fishburn added: “We were delighted
with the London Road Show. We have made one definite sale of a compact scissor lift and had three firm enquiries for others. If they all prove successful, that’s £100,000-worth of machines. We would not have achieved that without being here tonight, and from a supplier’s point of view, you know that hirers attending are genuinely interested in seeing new products.”
Vince Luiso (right) and Nick White from Watford-based Plant & Tool Hire said, “It’s been a great Road Show once again. You always learn something at events like this, and it’s good to put faces to the voices you usually hear at the other end of the phone.”
“It’s the first time I’ve been to the London Road Show and I’ve been able to meet old friends, see some suppliers and do some deals,” said Paul Grainger of Andara Tools. “I bought some festoon lighting and submersible pumps from Hire Supply Co and I found out more about Altrad Belle’s latest compaction plates. It was great to hear that the Executive Hire Show continues to grow and having the new on-site train station at the Ricoh Arena should make it easier to get to from London.”
