WOOD RECYCLING FEATURE

Hadfi eld working with skip companies to divert waste wood from landfill

NATIONWIDE waste wood experts Hadfield Wood Recyclers are aiding more local skip companies than ever to recycle waste wood by training them in how to perform on-site material segregation. The company, which has recycling facilities in Manchester, Middlesbrough and Essex, works with skip and waste management sites across the country. It takes all grades of non-hazardous waste wood and recycles or reprocesses it into a variety of sustainable products including animal bedding, feedstock for panel board and biomass fuel. Vicki Hughes, Group Business Development Director at Hadfi eld Wood Recyclers, said: “When we speak to skip companies we’re always pleased to off er training to site operatives to show them how to segregate the wood they get in skips, to ensure they get the best value for money. “In particular, a lot of skip companies get clean white wood mixed in with general waste and if they can separate that out they could potentially save themselves money or in some cases earn a revenue by

bringing it to us.” Due to Hadfi eld Wood Recyclers having multiple outlets for its products, with long-standing relationships with its off -takers, the company has year-round demand for waste wood, and so can accommodate the peaks and troughs of seasonality that skip and waste fi rms may experience.

Over the past 10 years Hadfi eld has invested millions of pounds in acquiring new sites in order to expand and upgrade and to make them state-of-the-art recycling and reprocessing facilities. Hadfi eld off ers a container service within a certain distance of each of its sites as well as collections on walking fl oors or bulkers on a national basis.
