Hiab further strengthens its UK network through a new Yorkshire acquisition

HIAB, the leading provider of on- road load handling equipment, has further strengthened its sales and service network in the UK by acquiring Londonderry Garage (S.E.) Ltd, which was previously its authorised dealer in the Yorkshire/North East region of the UK. The acquisition of Northallerton-based LGSE continues an ambitious expansion by Hiab as it invests in its network of wholly-owned sales, service and installation depots across the country to further improve its capability and competence to serve customers in the best possible way. Describing the move as a further step to bring Hiab closer to its customers, Rogier van der Linde, Hiab MD UK & Ireland, said: “This change strengthens our presence and strategy to become a customer- focused solution provider. “In the past 12 months, we have opened

workshops in London and Birmingham, and acquired our service agents in the Midlands and Scotland. By establishing a Hiab-owned depot in the north-east, we have taken another large step to strengthen our presence in the UK and to become the number one partner for our customers.” LGSE’s existing staff will be retained by Hiab, and the new entity will continue to operate from the current LGSE facility. Founded in 1947 by ex-RAF man Ron Exelby, LGSE (originally Londonderry Garage Ltd) started life as a small business repairing commercial vehicles in a shed next to the A1. Over 70 years it has grown to become a highly respected business with wide capabilities and a service-based ethos.

Hiab’s vision is to be the number-one

partner in global on-road load handling, inspiring and shaping the industry.

Ctrack launches simple and robust skip tracking solution

CTRACK, an Inseego company, recently launched a battery-powered tracking device for skips that uses long-life power management technology to operate for up to seven years. The telematics unit provides a simple asset management solution to enable skip hire businesses to enhance the security of their mobile resources. The unit also improves stock control, and reduces time needed to collect equipment by making it easier to locate. Steve Thomas, Managing Director of Ctrack, said: “We have launched the battery-powered telematics unit following strong demand from our customers for a simple skip-tracking solution to give them added visibility and control. “They needed something that could be integrated with their existing real-time telematics system for their vehicles, so they could have complete transparency of all assets through a single user interface.”

The long-life battery unit is designed for reliable, multi-year deployments.

To maximise battery life, the unit sends a single location a day, so skip hire companies managing high volumes of mobile assets can have peace of mind everything is where it should be.

It can be used as a standalone solution or integrated with real-time vehicle tracking – so all powered and unpowered assets

can be monitored through the same telematics system. The rugged enclosure has an IP67 rating, making it both dust and water proof, meaning it can handle all but the harshest conditions. The use of internal antennas, combined with the compact nature of the specially- developed casing, makes it easy to conceal and mountable virtually anywhere.

The choice of fi ttings – including screw and magnet options – off ers fl exible and straightforward self-installation.
