EDITORIAL VIEWPOINT

IT’S no secret, November and December are the months when we all start to tighten the purse strings – because let’s face it, if the kids don’t get that new Call of Duty game for Christmas there’ll be all hell to pay. For us at Skip Hire & Waste towers, this time of year gives us a bit of time to look ahead to 2019 and find out what’s going to be the hottest equipment to have going into the New Year. For our upcoming December edition, we’re rounding up the most- experienced and well-respected viewpoints within the industry as we venture into 2019. And if we’re being honest, that’s probably one of the best things about working on a waste recycling magazine: listening to perspectives from industry leaders that put complex issues into an easy- to-understand manner on topics that would otherwise be very confusing.

www.skiphiremagazine.co.uk

However, there’s one thing which is on everyone’s lips that no-one knows about. This brings us onto our next topic – and I hate to bring it up again – on 29th March 2019, we’re officially leaving the European Union. What that means for the UK’s waste recycling industry, well your guess is as good as ours. But instead of moaning about something that may or may not be a good or bad thing, what we should be looking to is the opportunities that may arise. For example, since the China ban, many companies abroad within the plastic recycling industry are already looking to the UK to handle the plastic waste. If it’s worth our time to take waste from companies outside of Europe in order to create new and exciting relationships, then let’s do it! And you never know, if it works out, we might be able to start loosening those purse strings again…
