Hiab launch HiConnect™ platform and off er real-time solutions to customers

HIAB, part of Cargotec, is taking another pioneering step in the load handling industry with the launch of their Hiab HiConnect™ platform. HiConnect adds connectivity to Hiab’s market-leading load handling equipment as an enabler to provide critical insights, which will help customers unlock value in their businesses.

HiConnect has been designed to enhance the productivity of Hiab equipment within customer fl eets. Customers will receive real-time insights of their equipment utilisation, operation and condition.

“Through this information, customers can actively optimise performance and avoid unnecessary downtime,” explained Jan-Erik Lindfors, Vice President, New Business Solutions at Hiab. “Currently, customers have limited, often manual-input based insights, and lack of information about their equipment utilisation rate, condition and operation.

“Now, HiConnect off ers real-time insights via web-based dashboards with clear and simple overviews that provide status monitoring, service planning and help improve the operation of each unit and operator.”

HiConnect has been developed in close collaboration with selected customers through multi-market pilots since 2015. Hiab will structure the HiConnect service off ering by introducing diff erent tiers of business-critical insights adapted to specifi c business needs and fl eet size.

Hiab will off er a HiConnect retrofi t solution to selected existing HIAB loader cranes and MULTILIFT demountables and customers in fi ve markets – USA, UK, France, Netherlands and Germany – with expansion of the HiConnect off ering and market coverage during 2018.

“The strength of HiConnect lies in the fact that it is optimised to off er customers a real-time overview of their operations, whatever the

size of their fl eet,” said Alastair Evans, Hiab’s UK Product Manager.

“Not only can it indicate effi ciency and performance of individual operators – highlighting potential areas where additional training can be off ered – but it can also report whether the equipment is being under- or over-utilised.

“This, in turn, gives us the intelligence to ensure our customers’ equipment is precisely confi gured to carry out the job it has been specifi ed to do.

“Furthermore,” continued Evans, “as the HiConnect technology will be integral to Hiab equipment, it off ers smaller users and operators of large fl eets alike a tool to help ensure their lifting equipment is working optimally, safely and within the relevant legal guidelines.”

“Modern technology and connectivity has totally changed the way we operate our business,” added Andrew Hollingsworth, Fleet Technical Manager, Travis Perkins PLC, one of the customers participating in the HiConnect pilot programme.

“Now that we can track the vehicles in our fl eet, we know exactly where they are and what they are doing. With this information, we can be more effi cient and operate much more safely.”

The combination of Hiab’s market-leading equipment and comprehensive service off ering – including Hiab ProCare™ contracts and HiConnect as a connected solution – will give Hiab customers the benefi t of increasing effi ciency, productivity and safety in their businesses.

“Our ambition is for all new Hiab equipment to be connected by 2018,” concluded Ian Mitchell, Hiab’s Director-Dealer Manager UK and Ireland. “This is yet another demonstration of how we are connecting us more deeply with the customer, to develop new ways of adding value to their business.”
