VEOLIA Water Technologies UK (Veolia) has been awarded a contract to supply their AnoxKaldnes™ moving bed biofi lm reactor (MBBR) technology for tertiary ammonia removal at Yorkshire Water’s Clayton West Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), as part of an upgrade carried out by Morgan Sindall Sweco Joint Venture.

commissioning over 700 MBBR reference sites, from small package facilities onboard ships to large industrial and municipal installations.
Veolia has a 30-year history of pioneering MBBR technology and has established itself as a world leader in the fi eld, providing a robust and proven solution to meet customer specifi cations for waste water treatment.
Following the successful installation and performance of a reactor at Cudworth WwTW four years ago, Yorkshire Water approached Veolia a second time to work on the Clayton West project.

Bakers Waste Services scoop major awards at 2017 Niche Business Awards
BAKERS Waste Services won two awards at the annual Niche Business Awards held recently at Athena Leicester.
The East Midlands based company won the Eco Business award while owner and director Paul Baker was Businessman of the Year. The fi rst award on the night for the waste management company was the Eco Business award.
This recognised the company’s eff orts towards recycling, reducing the amount of waste going to landfi ll, and their endeavours to educate others on how they can protect the environment.
Being presented with the award was a recognition for Bakers Waste’s investment in being an environmentally friendly business. From investing in the latest vehicles to reduce emissions, to introducing energy effi cient lighting, reducing the amount of paperwork by moving operations online, and installing solar panels to their new Leicester head offi ce, the company are committed to doing their bit for the environment.
The second award for the company saw founder and director Paul Baker win the prestigious title of Businessman of the Year. Amongst tough competition, Mr Baker came out on top to claim the prize in recognition of his hard work presenting the company’s services to customers across Leicestershire and beyond.

NORTH Yorkshire-based baler provider Riverside Waste Machinery has recruited Mic Harrison as lead service engineer.
Before his new post, Mic initially trained to become a Navy marine mechanic on HMS Sultan, Plymouth, where he remained for five years.
He has gone on to enjoy a number of engineering roles, working on a wide array of technical equipment.
As part of his new role, Mic’s responsibilities will include the installation and commissioning of Riverside’s balers and compactors; repairing, servicing and reporting on the operational eff ectiveness

of client machines, as well as delivering staff training.
Mic said: “In my previous position I was either predominantly factory-based, or limited to a number of locations.
He added: “Because of this, I’m already relishing the opportunity to travel up and down the country, along with the chance to interact with so many diff erent people.”
Managing Director of Riverside, Jonathan Oldfi eld, stated: “Mic has slotted into the Riverside jigsaw perfectly. He has such a broad range of engineering knowledge and skills, that he is already proving to be a huge asset”.
