BLUE Group go the extra mile for Fortress Waste


BLUE Group, the leading reseller of material processing equipment to the quarrying and waste recycling sectors within the UK, have built a state-of-the-art plant installation for family-run business Fortress Waste, near Warwick.


The plant, which cost just over £5 million and opened on October 20, will allow Fortress to process all the waste they receive.


The project was led by specialist Tom Rutherford, who collaborated with all the suppliers and then provided a proposal.


Daniel Tomlinson, Marketing Manager at Blue Group, said: “Tom has been on site on behalf of Blue for 16 weeks, and found the best solution for Fortress.


“For this particular project, it was agreed the UNTHA shredder was best suited to deal with the material Fortress were recycling.


“The plant and conveyors were built by one of Blue’s long-serving partners Westeria, which specialises in air density separation.


“The best aspect about this advanced Fortress plant installation is it will save the company millions of pounds.


Plant is environmentally benefi cial


“They can now recycle intake and receive a saleable product at the end, as opposed to sending it to other companies at extra cost or to landfi ll – this plant is environmentally benefi cial too”.


The Blue installation can recycle and reuse all the materials it sorts, and the separated materials are baled by a CW-D-2500-LW- 750-Direct wrapping line, which supplies a highly pure bale for wholesalers to purchase.


One section of the site which housed the crane did not require planning permission, as the crane was erected within a portable building which could be removed from the site.


Daniel continued: “The plant will pay for itself in no time through the short-term and long-term benefi ts.


“The fact these materials such as paper cardboard, plastic, RDF, metals, ferrous, can now be dealt with in-house, means this will save the company money on vehicle wear and tear, shipping waste to other sites, and the fact Fortress can now receive waste from other processing facilities.”

from which specifi c company would be most benefi cial for Fortress’ plant - a challenge they rose to.


“It’s not an easy task to liaise with a host of separate companies, but the fact we did this project in 16 weeks – supported day-in day-out by our representative Tom Rutherford – was a great achievement.


“Considering this project is something completely diff erent to what Blue Group have done before, it went incredibly well.


“Some people thought we’d be lucky to have this project completed by December. However, we handed the keys over to Fortress Waste in early-October, with both the staff and equipment fully trained and tested,” concluded Daniel.


Blue Group are synonymous with mobile and power screen machinery, but through the installation of plants for the waste recycling sector, projects such as the Fortress plant will take the UK-wide company to a new level.


After the success of the Fortress plant installation, the company have many other projects in the pipeline, including the pre- production of another new £3 million plant installation.
