Charity cycle heroes ride 300km to raise cool £50k


A TEAM of 23 cyclists set off from Ghent in September for an annual Charity cycle ride, fi nishing three days and 300km later in Amsterdam.


The cyclists were supported by a crew of nine, plus two mini- buses, three vans and two fast response vehicles. Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS) took a lead role in organising the event, and the aim was to meet or even beat last year’s phenomenal fundraising total of £50,000.


Over £25,000 has already been raised this year, with donations still fl ooding in. Multiple charities will benefi t from the event, including the British Liver Trust, the Donor Family Network, Kidney Research UK, ADDUP, Leukaemia Care, Little Princess Trust and Alzheimer’s Society.


The cyclists and support crew comprised of teams from VWS, CMS SupaTrak, Vision Techniques, City of London, Dennis Eagle, Biff a, Epic Media, Charlton Bodies, Leeds Commercial, M6 Vehicle Hire, Miles Smith, Muni Hire, JB Riney and Scarab Sweepers.

FCC ENVIRONMENT has won a prestigious Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council.


The leading waste and resource management company was one of 57 organisations worldwide to achieve a Sword of Honour, awarded for demonstrating excellence in the management of health and safety risks.


In order to compete for the Sword of Honour, an organisation has to achieve the maximum fi ve stars in the British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme in the period August 2016 – July 2017.


WASTE management specialist CDEnviro has been named Small Business of the Year in the Northern Ireland Chamber Business Awards.


The Chamber Business Awards – run by the British Chambers of Commerce – is one of the UK’s most contested, and prestigious business award programmes. The awards are open to organisations of all sizes and from all sectors.


CDEnviro’s Chief Operating Offi cer, Marc Jennings, who accepted the award, said: “We’re delighted that we are able to represent and promote the waste management industry through our participation in these awards.


“Our mission is to continue to ask the diffi cult questions, take on the diffi cult challenges, and develop new solutions to transform today’s waste into tomorrow’s assets. That approach is exemplifi ed through the criteria for these awards.

production director Martin Lister and Technical sales manager Richard Marsh, were cycling to raise money for the British Liver Trust, in honour of Brett Baker - who sadly lost his life due to liver disease in May 2016. Brett was the son of Keith Baker, a well known fi gure in the waste industry.


Julian said: “I am honoured to take part in the cycle ride in memory of Brett and to support Keith and his family. Not only is it great fun, we also manage to raise lots of cash for a wide range of charities.”

FCC environment awarded management award


FCC Environment also had to demonstrate to an independent panel of experts that they are excellent in health and safety management.
