Despite all of the challenges the FEC sector has faced over the last year, Abdullah remains optimistic: “The FEC market in Saudi is a promising market - if

you have good purchasing power, a good number of people and are willing to take a risk, come up with new ideas and focus on the people, not just the games.”


Coming soon... While there is only one Woosh at the moment, we can expect to see more in the future. “From day one we envisaged a scenario in which we would expand and franchise. We will revisit and readjust these plans and readjust them to cope with the new norm.” I ask Abdullah where the FEC sector will be in five years: “It’s hard to say where it will be, but I think the theming and the experience will be driven by the ‘local concept’. This happened before in F&B sector when a lot of local burger joints dominated the market, and it’s happening now with the local coffee shops. The ‘local FEC ‘will be different if it gains more knowledge and sees a successful local FEC brand.”
