Funplex Myrtle Beach Park nearing completion

s Funplex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, prepares for its opening this Spring on North Ocean Boulevard between 14th and 15th Avenue, seven new rides, all from SBF/Visa,


have been announced.


New rides include Mach Fun, an SBF/Visa Tower Planes. It is the tallest, interactive 360° flying jet ride on the market, and first-of- its-kind in North America. Hook and Slice is a Mini Reverse Time, and Sky Velocity, a Drop and Twist Tower. Fun in the Sun is an SBF Visa Big Air Coaster with spinning cars and a so-called 360º Car that spins like a human hamster wheel. The Big Air Coaster was introduced by New Jersey-based Rides 4-U at the 2019 IAAPA Expo. Other new rides include Hang 10 Silly Cups, an SBF/Visa Tea Cups, Sunny Day Swing, an SBF/Visa Toy Swinger, and Up and Overboard, an SBF/Visa Space Gun.


Additionally, facing Ocean Avenue, is Off-the-Coast Beach Bar and Grill, The Funplex Myrtle Beach’s new bar and restaurant, will feature signature food and drink options just steps from the beach. This two-sided, walk-up bar and restaurant will offer eight domestic and local draft beers, custom frozen drinks and traditional bar and seafood options.


Linda Freeman joins ASTM International Board of Directors


Linda Freeman, industry manager, entertainment/ amusement for Rockwell Automation (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA), will serve a three-year term on the ASTM International board of directors. Rockwell Automation is a global provider of industrial automation and information technology products and services.


Freeman has more than 24 years of experience at Rockwell Automation, having joined in 1996 as a sales engineer. Over her career, she has worked in multiple manufacturing industries


and in other industries such as onboard marine applications and NASA space launch programs. An ASTM International member since 2010, Freeman is a member-at-large on the executive subcommittee of the amusement rides and devices committee (F24). She also works on several subcommittees and helps lead the F24 student initiative to bring on the next generation of committee members.


Freeman holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of


Technology and is certified by TÜV Rheinland as a functional safety engineer and a cybersecurity specialist.


ASTM International’s board of directors is made up of 25 leaders from an array of companies, associations, and government bodies worldwide. Several members are based outside the United States.


Optical illusion attraction to open in Brighton, UK


Pod Experiences, the team behind escape room experience Pier Pressure, located in Brighton, is set to launch a new visitor attraction in the city. The new attraction, named Paradox Place, will open in April 2021 and will be comprised of four floors of optical illusions, immersive artworks and magic tricks.

co.uk, the new attraction will also include a shop selling games and gadgets on the ground floor while illusions and wonders will be spread around the whole building. The whole visitor experience will take between approximately 60-90 minutes. Pier Pressure’s creative director Philly Harris said: “We are very excited to be embarking on this new


attraction, especially as it something that hasn’t been seen before in the South of England.


“Keeping true to the values with which we launched Pier Pressure, we will settle for nothing less than a high- quality experience that will hopefully become one of the highlights of anyone’s visit to Brighton.”
