This month’s ‘Special Feature’ is all about Theming and on pages 24-28, I speak to six industry experts to find out more about what’s involved in the theming process, as well as current and future trends. I also got to speak to Abdullah Saleh Almunajem, CEO and founder of Woosh, an FEC in Saudi Arabia created with the entire community in mind (pp33-34). North American editor, Paul Ruben provides an update on the Mountain Coaster Capital of the World – well worth a read on pages 19&20.

We also hear from Stefano Cigarini, CEO of Cinecittà World in Rome (52-54) and Daan Du jim, director of operations and set-up for SunWorld, a series of leading amusement parks and entertainment complexes in in ietnam, (pp56-77), while regular contributor Astrid González Nariño gives us an update on the situation in Latin America (pp60-62).

At the beginning of January, I caught up with Great Coasters International (GCI) co-founder, Clair Hain online to find out more about the engineering behind the company’s new Titan Track, a patent pending steel track system without welds. Fully rivet-based, Clair said “the goal” was to make it with less inspection or any unscheduled maintenance: “The steel track requires less care than traditional wooden track, which makes upkeep of your coaster made easier and more affordable,” he said. GCI recently installed Titan Track on a section of the White Lightning ride at Fun Spot America in Orlando, Florida as a test. The park loves it – turn to pages 22&23 to find out why.

Latin America (pp60-62).

At the time of writing, here in the UK, most of Europe and in other parts of the world, theme parks, water parks, FEC’s and other visitor attractions remain shut. The industry is, however, planning ahead and with the global vaccination programme now underway it is hoped the world can gradually re-open - and stay open this time. Certainly, all of the operators and suppliers we have spoken to have everything in place ready for the start of the season, they are just waiting for the green light. Recovery is on the horizon and there is a real determination to make it happen, with lots in store for guests in 2021 and beyond.

Welcome to theMarch i sue. I hope you are all safe and keeping well.
