Park World takes a look at the latest games, rides and other pay-to play attractions to hit the amusements, indoor play and adventure play sector
SEGA AMUSEMENTS ICE/SEGA
Hoopla Sega’s new ticket redemption game is based on the fairground classic, Hoopla. It is designed as a family game for parents and kids alike. To win, players simply get the hoops on the seven illuminated pegs and will then receive tickets. The game features fairground style ‘roll-up roll-up’ audio effects to attract players.
AMUSEMENTS
Wheel of Fortune A big hit at this year’s EAG and before that at IAAPA, and aimed squarely at the FEC market, Wheel of Fortune is based on the classic TV game show format with players simply spinning the wheel to try and add a letter to the puzzle in order to win prizes. Completing all the words wins the big bonus ticket prize. Audio features include an automated gameshow host and voice-over prompts. The game can be linked, is multilingual, and features a centre- piece 42” screen.
UNIS/ INSTANCE AUTOMATICS
Coconut Shy One of the latest UNIS redemption pieces, Coconut Shy, was shown for the first time at EAG Expo in London on the Instance Automatics stand. The fairground-style game gets you to knock down coconuts to win tickets just like at the funfair. There are highlighted coconuts for extra points and if you accumulate enough points you activate the Bonus Wheel.
KONAMI/ELECTROCOIN Dance Dance Revolution A The latest game in the successful arcade dance-off
series features a handful of overhauls to the previous games. The most significant change is made towards the song selection screen. While the previous game, DDR 2014, still uses an interface that resembles the Cover Flow system introduced in DDR X2, DDR A changes it into a pagelist giving the illusion of a touchable interface, although selection is still made using buttons below the monitor. Nine song choices, organised in three rows, are in clear view of the player at any time; scrolling past them will reveal additional row of songs, somewhat like the one used in DDR 4thMix.
HOLOGATE VR System
Hologate’s virtual reality games system can accommodate one to four players at any one time in cooperative and competitive gameplay across a compact 25 square metre playing platform. It features high-end VR headsets which are lag-free and operate at 90 frames per second with game duration timed for five to ten minutes. It is designed to appeal to a number of age groups with games including robot fights, dragons and virtual snowballs. The system continually updates with the latest content and the system is built around modular components for updating and future proofing when necessary.
