Mexico, which continues to lead the industry in LatAm, reports the start of construction on an ambitious project that aspires to become the most important in the region. Amikoo Park


n 2020, Amikoo Park will begin operation. The name means ‘friend’ in the Mayan language. Construction will begin this year and it is estimated that the fi rst stage will be


ready by the end of 2018. Carlos Peralta, president of the IUSA Group, one of the


project’s investors, announced that once construction will be completed in four years, Amikoo will be the largest theme park in Latin America. The huge complex, will have a museum of Mayan archeology and anthropology, an amusement park related to Mayan culture, a 1,200-room hotel and a large commercial structure. The investment will be approximately US $840 million and


the development of the works will generate at least 9,000 direct and 36,000 indirect jobs, said the investors, who expect to receive more than 4.5 million visitors every year. Amikoo will be located in Punta Maroma, about 20
