Chance goes green

New this year for Chance Rides is the zero emission, lithium-ion battery powered C.P. Huntington Train. It is the 400th C.P. Huntington in Chance’s long history, the first being built in 1960. The unit was showcased during IAAPA Attractions Expo ’17, and is likely going to a zoo in the U.S., the company reported, with several other sales prospects also considering adding one. Also at IAE was the introduction of the electric powered Unicoaster 2.0 (pictured), which runs on 612 feet (187 m) of roller coaster track at speeds reaching 25 mph (40 kph). A typical figure 8 layout occupies a footprint of 209 feet by 116 feet (64m x 35 m. Passengers control the seat rotation. Bill Kitchen invented the Unicoaster, and Chance Rides manufactures it under license from Kitchen’s US Thrill Rides.

Dreamworld gets a flying start to 2018

A

ustralia’s theme park Dreamworld has announced it will be home to the Southern Hemisphere’s first flying theatre, in a partnership between parent company Ardent Leisure and leading simulation company Brogent Technologies Inc. The Australian-

themed i-Ride flying theatre will be launched in late 2018. The i-Ride flying theatre will be a 40-seat ride simulator, suspending riders in 10-seat gondolas over a hemispherical screen while they heave, sway, surge and roll as they are taken on an immersive journey of the Australian landscape. The riders will experience special effects such as wind, sound, light, mist and scents as they are soaring through the air. Dreamworld CEO, Craig Davidson said, “We are delighted to be introducing this technology to Australia and know it will be a big hit with our core family market. We are confident this new attraction will generate significant interest from locals, as well as visitors to the Gold Coast looking for a unique, world-class experience for all ages.”

Constructions begins on Kartrite

Construction has begun on the Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark, which is being built on the Catskill region of Upstate New York. Set to open in early 2019, the $150 million+ project will span 430,000 sq ft. Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has been contracted to design and build

ADVERT

the indoor waterpark. Inspired by the architecture of indoor waterparks in Europe, the Kartrite’s unobstructed column-free construction will feature a barrel-shaped transparent Texlon roof that will bathe visitors in natural sunlight throughout the year. Highlights will include a FlowRider surf attraction by ADG, a lazy river, activity kid’s pool & multi-level play structure, plus five waterslides from ProSlide. The opening of The Kartrite will create 600 permanent jobs and up to 250

construction jobs.
