Voletarium

Europa-Park’s already legendary flying theatre the Voletarium opened in summer 2017, and is currently the largest flying theatre in Europe. Created by Brogent Technologies along with partner for distribution Vekoma Rides, the attraction is also the largest i-Ride installed to date.

Based around the adventures of two brothers who

are aviation pioneers, the Voletarium takes riders on a breath-taking flight across Europe in chairlift-style gondolas, in one of two identical theatres. Each theatre has a screen measuring 21 metres in diameter and a total screen size of over 400 square meters – a crucial component in creating the flight experience. Kraftwerk Living Technologies provided the technical design, planning, supply and installation of the audiovisual equipment for the Voletarium, and told Park World that the main technical challenge behind the task was the sophisticated projection system and the video playback of 120 fps, which ensures incredibly sharp and brilliant images without any motion blur. “The proximity of the visitors to the screen and thus the visuals is a key aspect of what makes this attraction special.” The show control system, the individually designed touch panels and the 3D audio all add to the highlights

perfect for the China market where hygiene of items that are being passed between guests is of top consideration, and cleaning can be cumbersome for operators with the high throughput.” The theatre is scalable in capacity and size, with the first being a 17m diameter Theatre, seating 48 people and being delivered as a complete turnkey solution from the bespoke design to fabrication at Holoris’ new OEM factory in China. The technical specification will include the latest 4K projectors with the visuals blended using our propriety PixControl auto alignment software. This will be complemented by immersive audio and perfectly synched motion, to put people at the heart of the story and make them believe they are really on the dynamic journey.
