COMPANY FOCUS 3 Oaks Gaming

The iGaming distributor is on the charge when it comes to market expansion, securing a host of new licences to take its games portfolio to new parts of the world. GIO caught up with the company’s chief commercial officer, Yuriy Muratov, to find out more about 3 Oaks’ global ambitions.

3 Oaks Gaming has experienced a busy start to the year, with licences secured in the UK and Romania, as well as receiving certification in Portugal. What was the thinking behind entering these jurisdictions?

It has been an amazing start to the year for the whole company, and we are delighted to have broken through into a swathe of different European markets. The UK is one of the most mature regions in the world and presents us with an exciting, yet challenging, opportunity to further raise the profile of 3 Oaks. While it’s a competitive market to enter, we are confident that our portfolio will resonate with UK players.

Portugal’s iGaming market continues to grow from strength to strength, so it made strategic sense to enter this region. Over 40 of our most coveted titles have already been initially certified, and talks are ongoing with a wide range of the biggest operators. When it comes to Romania, we had set our sights on the country for some time and were delighted to receive our licence at the end of February, which was valid from April 1st. The move complements our recent certification in Bulgaria, and our overall ambitions for the Balkans. The region has shown consistent growth in recent times, and with most countries undergoing major investment to upgrade the quality of its internet accessibility, we have high hopes this will become an important component of 3 Oaks’ growth strategy.

As well as expanding the portfolio globally, 3 Oaks Gaming has also opened up new offices worldwide, including in Malta. How will this assist with future operations?

Malta is seen as the iGaming hub of Europe, with expos, industry leaders and many companies having a presence on the island. To match our growth ambitions, we felt we needed to expand our workforce and presence within Europe and Malta seemed the logical place to target next and complement our Isle of Man headquarters. Thanks to this, we are able to hire more employees, bolstering our executive team with new appointments and being able to

steadily grow teams across the company, focusing on account management, legal and marketing.

You were recently appointed the company’s new chief commercial officer, what are your own ambitions to take the company forward?

Becoming the company’s chief commercial officer was a proud moment and I am looking forward to introducing new initiatives that will take us in new directions globally. Ultimately, my vision is for 3 Oaks to become the leading distributor of iGaming content to regulated markets worldwide.

LatAm is the hot topic for everyone within the industry at the present time. Is the region still 3 Oaks Gaming’s biggest target over the next few years? Understandably the LatAm region has become one of the company’s major growth targets for 2024. Regulation is sweeping across multiple countries, most notably in Brazil where the potential is vast considering the population size. Entering the market with EstrelaBet earlier this year was a key move for us, allowing our games to get in front of players and help build familiarity. Elsewhere, we continue to partner alongside companies in Colombia, Mexico and Peru, where iGaming is accelerating at a solid rate. Undoubtedly, there are plenty more opportunities that lie ahead and we’re busy holding discussions with some of the region’s leading operators and aggregators.

Lastly, can you talk us through some of the latest releases from 3 Oaks and what future games are being developed? Hold and Win games remain a key component of our games portfolio. This classic mechanic is still one of the most popular in the industry and continues to be enjoyed by players across multiple jurisdictions.

Evolving the mechanic and introducing new ways of experiencing this game type is an important focus for us over the coming months. For instance, we recently introduced a 3 Pots mechanic within our Hold and Win series which influences the way in which the Bonus Game unfolds. Modifiers like Double, which adds an extra game board, and Multi, which sees multipliers randomly allocated to cells, have proven to resonate with players. Recent releases such as 3 Egypt Chests and 3 Clover Pots have performed strongly, while future titles will incorporate new variations of the mechanic.

There are plenty of slots to be launched as 2024 continues so watch this space for further developments, that are sure to catch the eye of players in numerous global markets.
