MARTIN STORM – BMM
just a nice-to-have – because intrusion must be seen as inevitable. To safeguard the industry, some gaming jurisdictions are even developing cybersecurity regulations; we’re here to be that partner and help the gaming industry through the entire process.
MB: You’ve also spoken before about your free video-based training platform (RG247) and hoping to get to around 50,000 users before the end of this year. Can I ask how that is progressing and if you have any other similar plans? MS: Another way that we protect the industry is through education, a foundational element in ensuring a strong and sustainable gaming industry. As a way of giving back to the industry, we have invested in developing a free, best-in-class training and education library for gaming company employees to provide safer gambling training online. RG24seven Virtual Training, which is led by longtime BMM executive Wendy Anderson, offers compliance- grade courses covering Responsible Gaming, Anti-Money Laundering, Human Trafficking Awareness, Corporate Social Responsibility, Testing and Compliance, and Casino Games and Technology. We provide all this training free of charge to any company in the gaming industry, including operators and suppliers. At ICE earlier this year we launched a partnership with UK-based Better Change to bring safer gambling training to the UK, and we are in the process of taking our existing training courses and translating them into Spanish for Spanish- speaking markets around the globe.
MB: The influence and use of A.I. appears to be going from strength to strength in all industries. Can you talk a little about BMM’s relationship with, and use of, A.I? MS: As emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, blockchain, NFTs, and Web 3.0 (metaverse) begin to impact gaming product design and regulatory oversight, BMM will be at the forefront of this change. We are already playing a leading role in collaborating with regulators, developers, and gaming manufacturers to advance these emerging technologies and help shape how they are tested, certified, and introduced. Our regulatory and government teams, led by BMM regulatory and compliance leader Travis Foley, will also play a critical role in helping gaming regulators mitigate risk and define the scope of these innovative experiences.
Regarding AI and our business specifically, we use AI in some of our testing methodologies to detect certain patterns and algorithms. We routinely test products that employ AI and machine learning to help casinos better understand and predict player behaviour and trends that give them actionable insights to deliver a better player or customer experience while reducing risk.

As a company that has been serving the market for 43 years, we find it a challenge to get the industry to understand just how much we have grown and how much we offer
At BIG Cyber, we leverage the power of AI to reduce the time it takes to identify indicators of compromise and possible threats. The AI- powered risk analysis we use is part of our smart monitoring suite for casinos to proactively identify vulnerabilities and defend against cybercrime. We look at AI as a powerful tool that helps us achieve our mission to protect the gaming industry and all who play.
MB: What is the part of your business that you find people struggle the most to understand/appreciate? MS: As a company that has been serving the market for 43 years, we find it a challenge to get the industry to understand just how much we have grown and how much we offer. There are only two major test labs serving every market in the world, each serving the same constituents – Tribal regulators and operators, commercial regulators and operators, and lotteries and iLotteries. Our performance where measured has been exceptional, and while we aren’t perfect, we are working hard to become perfect. We have some 1,000 customers to that end. But most importantly, we must continue to be guided by our vision, mission, and values at all times as we grow and evolve. People first!
MB: Are there BMM services you wished companies would take more advantage of? MS: We offer a comprehensive suite of services, and we hope that we are doing a good job communicating the benefits of working with BMM. One of the services that we wish our
clients would take advantage of more often is our IT security services. These are designed to protect organisations from cybersecurity threats, security breaches, and meet regulatory requirements in some jurisdictions. These services include penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, threat risk assessments, network risk assessments, web application audits, secure code assessments, and much more. With so many ways for cyber-criminals to breach organizations, every company must prioritize cybersecurity. BIG Cyber is here to help with every cybersecurity need, and there’s no better partner with such strong roots in gaming.
I’d also like to see more gaming organizations take advantage of our free, compliance-grade training offered through RG24seven Virtual Training; every gaming operator and supplier should offer this to their employees. The training is relevant, professional, virtual, and it is so easy to measure the results.
MB: What do the next 24 months look like for BMM? MS: The next 24 months look to be as busy and fast-paced as the last 24 months, as our BIG 3.0 vision comes to fruition. With our newly expanded leadership team in place, all barriers to entry behind us, and the incredible potential of so many new and emerging markets, BMM is well-positioned to grow as an important partner to suppliers, operators, and regulators in every regulated gaming market around the world.
