Macy’s window display spreads festive cheer thanks to Capital INK

C

apital INK Branding Solutions used Drytac SpotOn White M50

monomeric PVC film to create a Christmas window display for US retail chain Macy’s. The project was rolled out over the Christmas 2023 period and the company produced and installed window borders and vinyl accents around the Macy’s retail store in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dave Heit, national sales director

of Capital INK, said: “All the graphics were to be produced second surface and installed from the interior but two of the windows have a permanent, black border already installed second

surface. So, for these two windows, we were asked to install the graphic’s first surface.” Capital INK used its Canon Colorado

1650 to print the colourful design onto the Drytac film before its specialist team installed the pieces. Such was the success of the job that Mr Heit has said Macy’s will now be using the same method of application in all its future festive displays. Mr Heit said: “The client was extremely

pleased we found an adhesive product that worked for these windows. “They were also happy with the

end results of the installation and our commitment to providing the highest level of service and responsiveness.”

Triaprint from Antalis gets a green thumbs up I

n a recent outdoor project for a garden centre, Kettering-based Artisan Signs used a 100% polypropylene sheet from Antalis.

Seasons Garden Centres required directional and descriptive signage to be hung and attached to the planting area and benches.

The product used was Triaprint, which is a cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and recyclable alternative to the use of PVC and PUR foam boards. It is an extruded polypropylene sheet consisting of three layers. The central layer is a cell-structured core with smooth outer layers perfect for

digital and screen printing. The cell-structured core gives Triaprint its characteristics of high rigidity and high compression strength while remaining low in weight.

Graham Davey of Artisan Signs said: “The garden centre required a robust and

lightweight product that was weather resistant so it could be hung or attached outdoors. They also wanted a product that was environmentally friendly and recyclable after use; they therefore selected Triaprint as their product of choice.”

Paul Neale, product manager at Antalis, added: “Triaprint was the perfect solution for this brief. The key attributes of this 100% polypropylene sheet are its lightweight yet rigid structure, recyclability and, with corona treatment and UV absorbers added, you can be guaranteed excellent printed results for both indoor and outdoor applications.”

Art exhibition brought to life with Mimaki UJV100-160Plus I

n an exhibition titled A Different Perspective, experiential artist, Doddz showed printed canvases, floor graphics and 3D artwork to create a series of scenes that when viewed through a mobile phone, came to life as AR experiences.

To create the digitally printed imagery,

he used a range of floor graphics, wallpaper and canvas from Soyang Europe’s catalogue of digitally printable substrates, all printed with Mimaki’s UJV100-160Plus LED UV printer. The exhibition spanned over months with Doddz and his team working alongside the applications specialists at

both Soyang Europe and Hybrid Services. Ashley Carr, Hybrid Service’s application specialist, said: “We used a host of Mimaki’s latest technology to produce the artwork for the exhibition, from the flatbed UJF-3042MkII e that printed the plaques that incorporate the QR codes, to the TxF300-75 DTF printer that we created the T shirt graphics with.” Doddz added: “Working with Hybrid and Soyang Europe was the difference between being the success it was and no success at all. The guidance the team give me sharing their experience and expertise is the reason we’re already working on new projects together.”
