Admiral Tapes EDGE-It ECO Tape

New single sided banner reinforcing tape for PVC free banner media

A large format banner is a simple and cost-effective way to present a message but the PVC media it’s printed on is one of the most environmentally damaging types of plastic. Luckily there are many PVC free banner media options available to help reduce the impact banners have on the environment – the question is how to hem?

Stitching and welding are immediate choices but not every print company will own these types of fi nishing machines, plus from an environmental viewpoint switching on the machinery increases the carbon footprint of the banner simply by using more electricity.

Following the success of the single sided banner hemming tape EDGE-It Tape Admiral Tapes has developed and launched a 100% PVC free version – EDGE-It ECO Tape.

EDGE-It ECO Tape has a special adhesive system that has been tested on PET, PP, biodegradable and other PVC free fl ex banner media. Applied by hand there is no need to stitch or weld and the fi nished result can be used both internally and externally.

It’s incredibly quick and easy to use; once the banner is printed the self-adhesive tape is applied to the back and then eyeleted. Rolling the banner with the print on the outside ensures minimal fl uting.

Offering a strong and fl exible hemming solution with high tensile strength and tear resistance EDGE-It ECO Tape can also be used in tension frames. Made in Southampton and immediately available you can test this green banner hemming solution by contacting the team at Admiral Tapes for a sample.

The premier choice for sign applications With a comprehensive range of media from the sign industry’s leading brands and a fi rm commitment to robust recycling and sustainability practices, Premier has become a major presence in the sign industry. The company supplies Contra Vision’s range of window fi lms, including the

new Contra Vision Advance PVC-free perforated window fi lm. Earlier this year, Hollywood Monster used this product to create stunning, cost-effective, and sustainable window graphics for Nottingham Universal Cinema. Contra Vision Autograph is an exclusive film with patented air release channels

in its adhesive. This enables easy bubble-free installation for vehicle graphics and other over-laminated applications. Contra Vision HD delivers high-defi nition printed images for one-way vision applications. Its smallest-ever perforations allow for much greater printed detail and a clearer view from the non-graphic side. These one-way fi lms can also help reduce carbon emissions. Buses in Sydney, Australia, wrapped in Contra Vision HD have reduced solar heat transmittance through the windows because the printed area acts as a barrier, refl ecting or absorbing heat before it reaches the glass. On an average day, this saves 5KWH of energy demand from the air-conditioning unit, which equates to a saving of 180L of diesel per bus over a full year.

Premier is also the UK distributor for the full Drytac range of media. Exciting new developments from the manufacturer include Drytac Paper Fleece, a smooth, PVC-free media for unique and vibrant wallcoverings. The fi lms have a premium, satin fi nish and are completely repositionable; ideal for delivering something excitingly different for many interior décor applications.

Premier values recycling and reducing waste. It has a host of initiatives in place to drive better sustainability in the industry. For example, the company is a FESPA UK Waste Accreditation Champion, and has driven a massive tree-planting programme that has raised over £1.83m for the Woodland Trust.
