Interview
makes our partners tick, what they really want and continue to align every part of our service with the needs of our partners. We’re not just another distributor as we take time to build relationships and support our partners in their growth. Ultimately if they grow, we do too. As Giacom is part of Digital Wholesale Solutions I will have a
focus on how the different companies can work best together to provide a unique and world-class experience. No other distributor has the unique proposition that we do, ability to offer both cloud and telecoms. Giacom already has a standout brand in the tech industry, but as with everything there’s always room for improvements. I will be focusing on building and establishing our brand even more, with the aim to make it clearer what we stand for and why Giacom is best choice compared to our competitors.
How has being a female in a leadership role within the channel been for you? The challenges I’ve felt elsewhere in different industries are yet to present themselves and this particular channel has been hugely welcoming. When I look at the Senior Management Team at Giacom it’s almost a 50/50 split and across the business there’s a good balance of male and female members of staff, with women representing 41% of our workforce. As a female leader in a tech business, I do however think I have
a role to ensure we continue to encourage and nurture female talent and continue to provide some of the amazing opportunities I’ve had.

What advice would you offer to other aspiring young individuals to succeed in a career within the channel?
Find your inner geek! When we start in our careers, we tend to have a very linear view of what a career should look like and the steps on the ladder we should take, which means we can get stuck in a role we don’t love but think we should have. Being open to new roles and experiences gives you an opportunity to find your geek or your passion. When you find it you’ll know about it, and work will no longer be a chore but something we’re excited to do and that excitement is infectious Find a mentor – either within or outside the channel, but from
outside of your business. Regardless of what part of the channel you sit in, having someone you can go to for advice, learn from and review your career goals with is key regardless of industry. Be prepared for a fast-paced environment. I’m not sure there is
another industry quite like it, and I think it’s one of the reasons so many of us fall in love with the channel and never leave. It’s not for everyone; be ready for working at speed, lots of change and having to be agile with your workload. One thing for sure – you will not get bored!
What areas of growth and market opportunity do you see in regards to tech and tech services offerings in the channel? Te pandemic highlighted the need for businesses to embrace innovation, either by communication tools, cloud, or overall digital transformation. Solutions that allow teams to collaborate effectively, in whatever location, will continue to be in high demand.
