more trade-in options for assured recycling and asset disposal of data centre and infrastructure products.
T
ech Data’s refurbishment and recycling programme enables partners to offer end- user customers a simple way to trade-in
old or end-of life products for refurbishment or recycling, with all components and materials disposed of properly and in line with recognised environmental standards. Tech Data’s Mark Glasspool, services director, UK & Ireland had this to say.
Can you tell us more about Tech Data’s trade-in options for assured recycling and asset disposal of data centre and infrastructure products? Our trade-in, recycling and asset disposal services are all about ensuring partners can give their customers a simple and cost-efficient way to meet their environmental and sustainability goals, while also managing the security risks of equipment disposal. We can provide a compete service on all kinds of infrastructure equipment, including servers, storage, and networking products, such as switches and routers. For the storage elements, we can provide complete, verified, and government-approved data sanitisation. Depending on its condition, equipment can subsequently
be refurbished and remarketed, or recycled. Products will be dismantled with reusable materials being sorted and sent onwards to specialist re-cycling organisations. Industry best practices are followed to ensure conformity to
regulation on e-waste and ensure that no harmful materials go into landfill. In fact, a lot of the components and metals that are extracted will end up being re-used. Full details covering transfer

Can you explain more about the provisions covering products from HPE, IBM, NetApp, and other well-known enterprise vendors? Tech Data has long and well-established partnerships with many leading enterprise hardware vendors, including Cisco, Dell, Extreme Networks, HPE, IBM, NetApp, Lenovo, Seagate, and Western Digital. As such, we have identified and have chosen to work with industry partners capable of providing trade-in and asset disposal on all these leading brands. Tis is important because our partners will want to reassure their customers that they can offer residual values and
assured disposal on their end-of-life equipment.
What steps can channel businesses take to be more sustainable? All partners need to be aware of and start to act on sustainability without delay. In every industry, this is now a prevalent and important issue. Te whole channel needs to start moving towards net zero carbon – within individual businesses and throughout the whole supply chain – as quickly as possible. If they are not already, customers will soon start asking their
IT suppliers where they are right now on their NZC journey, and where they plan to be, and when. Customers will also want you to demonstrate your environmentally friendly actions and processes. Tis is a strategic priority for Tech Data, and we expect to make significant progress in 2022. We have appointed a director for
