ommunity is one of the most important things in life. Finding people you connect with, who are doing similar things, and discovering those who can help guide you on your own path is truly invaluable. Shortly after IFA (you can read the full ERT IFA
roundup in the October issue), I took a little trip to Italy to catch the F1. While it wasn’t the most thrilling race of all
time, being surrounded by
people who share a genuine appreciation for the skill of the teams and drivers was unforgettable. The atmosphere created by the Tifosi was electric - if you ever get the chance, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It made me realise just how important events like the ERT Awards are. Taking place in London in under a month’s time, the Awards are a chance to be part of your community, chat with retailers, suppliers, and industry professionals, and celebrate the very best in electrical retail. Even if you don’t take home an award, it’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with your peers and share insights. After such a challenging year, why not end it on a high? In this issue of ERT, I had the huge privilege of speaking with Kevin Liu, General Manager at Midea UK, about the company’s ambitions. We
discussed how Midea is navigating the challenges of the current market, their focus on innovation, and what’s next for the brand in the UK. It’s a fascinating insight into how a global player adapts strategies for local retail, and it’s definitely worth a read. ERT’s Francesca Seden also caught up with Mitchell & Brown to discuss the current TV market, the resurgence of buying British, and how retailers are responding to consumer demand for both quality and value. Hearing directly from a retailer about what it takes to stock and sell these products gives readers a grounded perspective on trends, challenges, and customer priorities. Meanwhile, Steve May provides his lowdown on essential tech products that consumers are looking at ahead of the festive period. From smart home gadgets to seasonal best-sellers, his feature offers practical insights for retailers planning their stock and promotions. On the refrigeration front, we explore the latest
innovations and market shifts, including energy- efficient models, smart
features, and design
trends that are shaping consumer expectations. This feature helps retailers understand not just what is available, but what’s likely to resonate with shoppers in the coming months.

And, of course, our ERT secret shoppers have been out again, this time in Devon, putting stores to the test and providing detailed feedback on customer service, product knowledge, and overall shopping experience. These insights are invaluable for retailers looking to benchmark their performance and identify areas for improvement. Enjoy the read.
