JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE
JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE
Richer Sounds, Sidwell Street
This store reopened on Saturday, August 20, 2016, following extensive fire damage suffered in a blaze on July 27. My TV was relatively new, but I thought that the sound could be improved. Inside the store, I was greeted by Pete, who asked if he could help me. Pete explained that there are two main types of sound bars: basic soundbars are a single unit that sit beneath your TV, while surround sound soundbars include additional speakers placed around the room for a more immersive listening experience.
The first sound bar that Pete presented and demonstrated was a model from Denon (DHTS416), priced at £249. He said that this model features seamless wireless streaming via Bluetooth, enhanced dialogue clarity for distinct vocals, even in busy audio scenes, and a simple and straightforward set-up process. Pete demonstrated the sound bar by showing me Titanic.
After a good demonstration, Pete then
presented and demonstrated the Sonos Arc Ultra sound bar, which was priced at £999. He mentioned that because the sound bar
is from Sonos, products can be added to the network in other locations in my home.

Pete did a great job and his demonstrations were very good. The store was well presented and bearing in mind it’s located on a busy junction, its exterior appearance looked very good.
ProCook, Princesshay
This store, located in the Princesshay shopping centre, opened on November 15, 2024. I was looking for a bean-to-cup coffee machine. Inside the store, George approached me and asked if I’d like any help. There were two models on display; the ProCook Barista was priced at £399 and the ProCook Elite was priced at £599. I asked him to talk to me about the Elite
model.
He said the model features a 58mm stainless steel portafilter, single and double filter baskets, stainless steel tamper, two-litre detachable water tank, bean hopper, 460ml milk jug, cleaning brush and pin. Goerge said the full colour display screen enables you to have your personal guide from bean-to-cup with customisable options. He added that an integrated conical burr
coffee bean grinder has 30 grind settings for even more choice, while the automatic steam wand and a dual thermoblock system enables seamless coffee brewing and milk frothing. George added that the model comes with a two-year guarantee.

George knew his beans (no pun intended); his mentions of the personal guide and guarantee were attempts to close the sale – he really helped in differentiating the two models. The store looked well presented.
C&D Appliances, Old Tiverton Road
This store is located a short walk from Richer Sounds and is sandwiched between Far East Delight and Continental Food Stores. I was looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner. Inside the store I was greeted by Lloyd, who asked if he could help me. I said that after buying our last couple of vacuum cleaners from supermarkets, I wanted to buy a better model, so was prepared to pay more to do so. Lloyd immediately recommended the Henry vacuum cleaner from Numatic International, which merchandised as part of the window display, priced at £169. He said that Numatic International products
are also used in commercial settings, as well as in schools and the NHS.
He said that the Henry vacuum cleaner
comes with a two-year guarantee and various attachments, including a 1.8-metre hose, and tools including a floor tool, crevice tool, and dusting brush. He said that additional attachments can be purchased separately. Lloyd explained that this is a bagged vacuum
cleaner and he said that a 10-pack of Numatic Dust Bags costs £14.99, while a generic 10- pack of compatible bags costs £12.99.

Store presentation: 5/5
Total score: 9/10
Lloyd’s mentions of the guarantee and bag prices were attempts to close the sale; a demonstration would have secured top marks.
