APS Distribution appoints sales ‘dream team’ to drive growth in the appliance sector

APS Distribution, the home of Swift Electrical, has appointed Wayne Paskin as Head of Business Development and Roger Giles as Head of Sales and Product Developments. Roger Giles has most recently been UK Sales Manager at AO Business Contracts and Business Development Manager at AO Business – Housebuilders. His previous roles, including Contract Sales Manager at Omega PLC and Regional Sales Manager at Moores Furniture Group, have provided him with valuable experience in managing sales teams and developing business partnerships. Mr Giles said: “I am excited to join APS and apply


my experience to help develop the business further. I look forward to working with the team to build strong partnerships and drive sustainable growth in the appliance market.” Wayne Paskin brings considerable experience from

 AMDEA, the Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances, has taken a deep dive into the work and challenges of the past year. In its 2024 report, ‘A Year in Review’, the Association said it was a challenging year for the domestic appliance industry with a plethora of regulations and standards being developed and coming into force, as well as a continued slow market. In the report, outgoing Chair of the Board of AMDEA, Teresa Arbuckle (pictured left), shared her perspective on the past year: “I am proud to have led  to properly transform AMDEA,” she said, “creating a new-look trade organisation that is now very well set to represent member and stakeholder interests as we face the challenges of the future.”

Affordability and trust are driving consumer purchasing decisions, study says


More than half of UK consumers have switched to cheaper brands, and 45 per cent are delaying non-essential purchases, according to a recent study.


Inflation continues to impact household       changes to their buying habits, with affordability and trust driving purchasing decisions. A recent study of over 8,000 global consumers, compiled by Bazaarvoice Inc for its latest Shopper Preference Report, shows that UK shoppers’ spending habits are shifting with more of a focus on value and trust-driven consumption. Authenticity is key, as 57 per cent of UK shoppers cite real customer reviews as the  Consumers trust content that includes detailed product descriptions (33 per cent), real life photos/videos (37 per cent), and balanced feedback (36 per cent).  shopping decisions; a third of UK consumers said social media introduced them to new products, while 28 per cent use it to compare prices and products.
