The brand has also noticed that more households are using multiple vacuum cleaners: “We’re seeing a pattern where a cylinder or upright vacuum is used for deep cleaning, while a cordless stick vacuum is relied upon for quick, everyday touch-ups,” says Dan Young, Senior Brand Manager of Floorcare at Miele GB. This trend is driven in part by space limitations, with many consumers looking for vacuum cleaners that complement their interiors. The German brand’s latest product line-up reflects this, offering solutions that address every cleaning need. For example, Miele’s Guard series, which includes models such as the S1, M1 and L1, brings together functionality, efficiency and aesthetics. The S1 is a compact, lightweight model ideal for smaller spaces, while the M1 and L1 provide more power and versatility.


“The M1 is an everyday powerhouse, while the L1 delivers top-end performance with elegant designs that align with modern consumer expectations,” Mr Young explains. Miele’s premium model, the Guard L1 Comfort XL, introduces Wi-Fi connectivity and an LCD screen that allows users to monitor the vacuum bag fill level and filter condition via the Miele app. With its automatic floor detection and ability to adjust suction power seamlessly, the Guard L1 makes cleaning effortless. “We wanted to combine premium product design with cutting-edge technology to meet the needs of modern consumers in modern homes,” Mr Young says. “In store, we show consumers how our floorheads can stick to a wall using only the vacuum’s suction at max power. This hands-on approach helps them appreciate the quality and innovation behind our floorcare solutions.”

Time to shine Alternatively, Hoover offers its HG4 robot vacuum which it says is “about to transform the market” with a performance that is 150 per cent more powerful – plus, it can map out the area of the consumer’s home in under 10 minutes. HG4’s rotating brush uses a combination of bristles and rubber blades to pick up dust and dirt from all types of flooring, whilst the side brush sweeps corners and edges. Suction power of up to 4,000Pa pulls the dust and debris up into the robot’s dust chamber, leaving floors clean. Equipped with LIDAR (Laser Navigation System) it continuously scans, learns and updates the layout of the home. The vac also features Anti-fall-down sensors which allows it to detect and avoid steps or stairs but it is also able to climb obstacles up to 20mm in height.
