MADDIE ROSE CAMPAIGN: OPENING UP THE INDUSTRY


TO YOUNG PEOPLE The Maddie Rose Campaign is continuing to expand its reach, opening up the building materials sector to more young people.


THE MADDIE ROSE Campaign is all about inspiring and supporting young people to discover a hidden career within the building materials sector and wider built environment industry.


Each year, the Campaign has encouraged supporters to take part in Maddie Rose Day, a chacne to show their support for the charity by wearing yellow, turning their social media feeds yellow, and generally get involved. This year, Maddie Rose Day will be Thursday 19th September 2024. This special day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate all the amazing work the Maddie Rose Campaign has accomplished so far, spread awareness of our cause, and get everyone involved in making a difference.


1. Light Up Social Media • Show your support by filling their social media feeds with Maddie Rose Campaign posts. • Change your profile picture to our campaign logo and use our brand colour, yellow, on the 19th of September.

By getting involved in Maddie Rose Day, you’ll not only be helping to raise awareness but also contributing to the ongoing success of our campaign. Your participation can make a huge difference in spreading the word and gathering more support for our cause. BMJ


In the two years since the Campaign launched, the Construction Youth Trust has, with the help of MRC funding:


• Supported 58,972 young people , 73.3% of them from groups that are underrepresented in construction • Delivered sessions with 94 schools since Sept 2021, 88.4% of those schools having above average free school meal eligibility • Supported 1,445 young people to get into

Education, Employment or Training • Helped 2,836 young people with intensive coaching • Piloted the Hidden Careers in the Supplier and Merchanting Sector scheme over 34 weeks in 2022, with 257 young people taking part. • Piloted a Negotiation skills scheme over 28 weeks in 2023, with 57 young people taking part.


How merchants and manufacturers can get involved in the Campaign:


• Look at your organisations and see if you can find role models who can support the Hidden Careers Sessions • Contact your local schools to see if they would like to set something up or take part in careers events • See if you have suitable Work Experience options, to allow young people to learn more about the opportunities available • Share any apprenticeship or employment opportunities you have with the CYT. • Download the packs and information on settting up sessions, or make a donation to support the Campaign at www.maddierosecampaign. org.uk/
