Founded in 1883 the Joseph Parr Group is made up of six separate builders merchants: ¡ Joseph Parr Limited, a traditional merchants trading from Liverpool and Port Sunlight. ¡ Joseph Parr (Middlesbrough) Ltd, also trading as Joseph Parr Tyne & Wear, in Stockton with a second site at Benton, Newcastle. ¡ Joseph Parr (Alco) Ltd, trading from both Oldham and a showroom at Bradford. ¡ Parr Rochdale Ltd ¡ W.& H.S.Emery Company Ltd, trading from Stoke and Telford ¡ The Builders Supply Company Ltd, trading from Bothwell and Edinburgh.
J T Dove
Established In 1869 in Newcastle, JT Dove was one of the city’s earliest merchants to supply the building industry.
In 1954, Herbert Dove put the company into Trust to preserve the purpose and identity of the business and today, profits continue to be distributed to the members of staff.
The company has continued to expand, adding branches across its North East territory. In November 2022 Nordstrom Timber & J T Dove merged their 223 years of experience. Nordstrom Timber is located off Hendon Road, Sunderland.

James Burrell
Family-run business James Burrell which was established in 1877, opened its biggest depot in September 2022. The development – on Whitehouse Innovation Park in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees – is four-acres and consists of a trade counter and shop, office, warehouse, and yard. It brings the total number of branches to 11, all concentrated in Yorkshire and the North East.
