Brothers Marian and Christin
What was the initial training and support like? National Office provided extensive guidance, owner manuals and structured training, which meant we stepped in with clarity and confidence, especially important as newcomers to the care sector.
And how has it been ongoing? The franchise network has been just as crucial. Peer support from other owners gave us real-world solutions during our early weeks, helping us make informed decisions quickly.

Why did you decide to go into franchising and why this brand? After years of running businesses together, we wanted our next venture to have real purpose. Our mother had a poor experience working in care, and we wanted to provide something better. We began researching the sector and Home Instead stood out immediately. The values aligned with ours, the model prioritised relationship-led care, and the franchise structure offered the perfect balance of independence and proven guidance.
Why did you decide to go into business with a family member? We’ve worked together before, and we know exactly how our skillsets complement one another. Marian brings operational leadership from logistics and retail distribution, while Cristin’s strengths lie in finance and construction. That mix gives us the confidence to make strong decisions and a shared ambition

How do you divide the work? Marian leads on operations, people development and efficiencies, while Cristin focuses on financial strategy, systems and long-term planning. It’s a natural division built on where we each thrive.
What are the benefits of working with a family member? Trust is the biggest one. There’s no second guessing, no politics, just complete alignment. We also hold each other accountable, which helps us maintain momentum and stay focused on what matters.

How has business been? Since taking over, we’ve delivered 40% year-on-year revenue growth in South Devon and improved profitability across both businesses. Investments in technology, process improvements and paid marketing have all contributed, but the biggest driver has been listening to our teams and clients.
Have you encountered any problems along the way? Taking on an established business comes with complexities. But by taking time to observe first and act second, challenges became opportunities for improvement.
How has your life changed since you joined? We feel more connected to our work than ever before. The impact on clients and Care Professionals is something no other industry has given us.
What are your plans for the future? Our focus is long-term, sustainable growth. We want to continue investing in technology, strengthening our teams and expanding the quality of care we provide. Culturally, we’re committed to building a business that people are genuinely proud to work for, a place where Care Professionals feel supported, clients feel valued, and innovation continues to drive better outcomes. Ultimately, our goal is to create territories that not only perform strongly but become leading examples of what exceptional home care can look like in the UK.
