uAnish Panchmatia, Right at Home Solihull franchisee (middle)

Caring first

From retail to real impact: finding purpose in business with Right at Home

question: what did he actually want his business to do? “Retail became difficult... more like penny pinching during a cost-of-living crisis,” he recalls. “I wanted my next venture to really have a positive impact and help as many people as possible.” The answer came from an unexpected place:

A

his grandmother. When she needed care, Anish discovered for the first time that homecare was even a sector. When she recovered, the idea took root. He started researching, came across Right at Home, and hasn't looked back.

Built on the right foundations The journey hasn't been without its challenges. Anish picked up the keys to his Solihull office in September 2023, but an unusually lengthy CQC registration process meant he couldn't begin delivering the majority of services until April 2024. Rather than stall, he got to work. “It was a case of

nish Panchmatia knows franchising: before launching Right at Home Solihull in March 2023, he'd built a successful convenience store franchise, but found himself asking a bigger

spending a lot more time marketing. A big thing I've learned is that the work you do now will pay off later... waiting for our registration gave us more time to do that stuff. I don't come from a care background so I had a lot more time to learn, which is a good thing.” And following that experience? “What I’d say to anyone considering this sector is that if I can learn how to do homecare, anyone can – and it’s actually a privilege to be in a position to do it well, delivered with dignity and respect.”

The network effect Right at Home's community of over 80 UK franchise owners gave Anish something no training manual could replicate: real insight from people who'd navigated similar terrain. “I spoke to a lot of other franchisees to learn about their journeys, and while everyone's is similar in many ways, it will be a bit different at the same time... it gives you an idea of how to go about these things, how to avoid some issues.” National Office support, has been another

consistent asset. “The marketing team is really good, they're very on it and they're top tier... when you do need it, it's always spot on.”

What's next With a thriving business established, Anish is thinking bigger. He's organising a community roadshow – the Solihull Care Show – bringing together local businesses, the council, healthcare services and community organisations to help residents navigate everything from homecare to pharmacy delivery. His advice to younger people weighing up a

franchise opportunity is characteristically direct: “If you're looking for short-term returns, other sectors can probably offer bigger and better more immediately. But if you're looking to build a real foundation of a business that will grow over 5 to 10 years, get a solid return, and make a difference, Right at Home is the right place to do it.”
