Building a business that changes lives
ome career pivots are born of ambition. Apurva Sharma's came from conviction. As an NHS physiotherapist she watched carers show up day after day
for older adults navigating recovery and noticed just how much they mattered. “It never ceased to amaze me just how
important carers were in the lives of those we were treating,” she says. “Crucial, in fact, when it came to such things as mental wellbeing. It really made a mark on me.” Apurva knew she wanted to combine her
clinical expertise with that deep respect for quality care. The question was: how? Franchising offered the answer.
Choosing the right partner During Apurva's research into care brands, one company stood out above the others: "That was Right at Home. Everything just felt right – the ethics and methods chimed perfectly with my own. “Having a clear path, a proven model and
the ongoing support of an expert team at the National Office behind me was simply the obvious way to go.”
Trailblazing work Today, Right at Home Reigate & Crawley is a thriving businesses and, drawing on her physiotherapy background, Apurva has designed and piloted a specialist reablement and rehabilitation service, in the knowledge that consistent, quality care is necessary for genuine clinical recovery. The pilot has delivered positive outcomes
and the service has the potential to be rolled out across the network.
Growing with purpose With a robust business established, Apurva has expanded into Horsham, taking her territory further into West Sussex. Growth,

“A clear path, a proven model and the ongoing support of an expert team was simply the way to go”
she says, has to be earned and managed carefully. “We hope to grow steadily and sustainably while maintaining and improving the quality of our service.” She's also joined the Right at Home
Franchise Advisory Council, bringing her experience to the network while continuing to learn from it. “Collaborative thinking always leads to better, more balanced outcomes,” she says. Her advice to anyone weighing up a similar career change? Don't underestimate what you already bring. “Like any business, we still face regular pressures... There is reassurance in knowing we are not alone, and the support of the franchisor and wider network helps us manage the more difficult periods. “Growth, team development,
and business scaling are good challenges to have, and they push us to improve continually.”
