Journey to success

ONE YEAR ON…

Mart in Jones of Shuttercra ft, Warwick and Worcester, on the best decision he ever made

A

fter many years in the shutter industry, a change in circumstances meant that Martin needed to rethink his career strategy. He knew his preference was to have his own

business and, apart from a fl eeting moment when he considered being a salesperson for a well-known blind company, he decided that the options were quite clear – set up a shutter company himself or fi nd a business model that gave him the structure he needed

Despite home-schooling his children, Mart in has had his most successful period to date –turnover has almost doubled

His objective was simple – he wanted to be able to

manage his business rather than work in it, which would allow him to do the things he loved – meeting prospects and customers and delivering a quality service he could be proud of. “I knew that Shuttercraft had improved their model and that it was much more of a management franchise and that really appealed to me – my skills are in running a business and dealing with customers. I’d always been front of house in my previous business and I wanted to make sure that I could continue to do this whilst maximising the business opportunities. "From the minute I spoke to Shuttercraft, it was

obvious that their franchise was the perfect solution. I joined in March 2018 and I can honestly say it was the best business decision I’ve ever made.”

22 With his own focused strategy for growth he was well

on his way to achieving his income goals. However, the Covid 19 outbreak earlier this year meant he was looking at a very different set of circumstances. Thanks to the innovative solutions developed by both franchise partners and the head offi ce team, Shuttercraft introduced a virtual measuring system, which meant that orders could be processed and business could continue without any risk to franchise partners or customers. Despite home-schooling his children for part of the

week, Martin has now had his most successful period to date. Since 1st of May this year his turnover has almost doubled, the number of sales have increased 2.5 times, he has completed over 186 surveys and has achieved a conversion ratio of 95 per cent over the last four months. Martin believes that the robust and innovative

Shuttercraft business model has given him the foundations he needed for his focused and persistent approach and to build his success. He is convinced that the interior shutter industry is still in its infancy and there is a lot of scope to grow his business. Martin concludes: “I highly recommend that anybody

who is looking for a business that they can grow and manage, thinks seriously about the Shuttercraft franchise. I had experience of the industry and running a business but, by following the Shuttercraft model, I have grown to a level I could never have imagined. The fact that, despite the disaster that was the Coronvirus pandemic, I have been able to still operate and have actually exceeded my income levels on last year, is testament to the support and innovation that Shuttercraft provide.” 
