Cleaning

Services offers prospective franchisees with people-management skills a safe and secure future. Minster was established in 1982 and has been a full member of the British Franchise Association (bfa) since 1992. More than 40 management franchise branches provide cleaning services for over 6,000 clients. With so much experience of franchising and the commercial cleaning market, Minster gives franchisees a rock-solid business model with considerable opportunities for growth. Larger branches can employ upwards of 200 people and many have achieved annual sales in excess of £1million. The top 10 branches are averaging annual sales in excess of £1.7million, and annual turnover for the group is now approaching £40million. Minster Cleaning Services is a management

Minster Cleaning Services A

s one of the country’s most successful commercial cleaning franchises, Minster Cleaning

franchise where the franchisee provides the management expertise working within a proven business format. Management franchises are more complex than single- operator franchises and, with franchisees typically employing relatively large numbers, it is vital that there is a proven business format for the franchisee to work within. People- management skills are essential attributes for franchisees, but they will also need to be dynamic, self-motivated and resilient. In a management franchise, you will be

overseeing all areas of the business so it is important that you receive appropriate training. New Minster franchisees benefit from a highly effective marketing strategy, as well as help with the transition from employment to self-employment. Ongoing support also covers operational management, administration, bookkeeping and IT, with professional advice in the complex fields of employment law, health and safety, and environmental legislation. Minster’s exceptionally large territories give

enterprising franchisees virtually unlimited scope for expansion. This means that they can look forward to many years of potential franchise growth without reaching saturation point or having competition from another Minster franchisee. And, as an essential business-to-business service with multi-sector

appeal, office cleaning is less susceptible to fluctuations in the nation’s economy than most sectors. Most of Minster’s recent franchisees have joined by acquiring a resale. Managing director Mike Parker says that buying a resale offers franchisees many advantages: “The purchase of an established franchise gives you cashflow, customers and staff from day one. It can also provide evidence of what can and has been achieved, and it can show how the business is likely to perform in varying market conditions.” Recent incoming ‘resale franchisees’ have all made significant positive impacts on the Minster businesses that they bought. They have benefited from taking over at branches that are working well and have an experienced cleaning workforce, knowledgeable field and admin staff, and a substantial profit stream. Mike adds: “I believe that much of Minster’s growth and success has been helped by

the coordinated approach and cooperation between the franchisor, franchisees and employees. Franchisees exchange ideas and information through regular meetings and conferences and by telephone and email. If ever a problem arises, there is always someone else in the network who has had the same experience and has come up with a solution.” Minster Cleaning Services is planning another year of solid growth in 2018. Ongoing delivery of service excellence remains crucial to the business’s success, keeping client churn to a minimum and generating referral opportunities. The franchise will continue to invest in and make refinements to its proven marketing systems to attract new customers and develop increased sales from Minster’s existing client base. New franchise opportunities include Cambridge, Doncaster, Durham, Leicester, London, Middlesex, Guildford, Peterborough and Swansea.
