Right at Home signs its 50th UK franchisee

n Right at Home UK has reached a new milestone after awarding its 50th franchise.

New franchisee Kevin Lancaster, a former IT manager, took the decision to change career after realising he needed a new challenge. He will operate Right at Home’s care services in Reading and Wokingham after completing his Care Quality Commission registration. Joining Kevin in Right at Home’s latest new-owner training programme are former Sixt car rental executive David Meanwell (Stockport), former set production company owner James Foley (Swansea), and Keith and Kirsty Sheena (Hatfi eld and St Albans), who both enjoyed successful careers in the City before deciding to start their own business together. Kevin says: “After our fi rst week’s training I am feeling energised and looking forward to the challenge of expanding the Right at Home brand into Reading and Wokingham.

“My experience so far of working with the Right at Home UK team and existing owners gives me great confi dence that I’m joining a fabulous franchise.”

Right at Home maintains a measured network growth strategy, which sees each of its prospective franchisees put through a challenging recruitment process to ensure they are suited to the demands of the business. Group director Tim Jones says: “Care can be hugely rewarding, but it is not an easy sector to work in and our brand is not an easy one to join,. “It takes real commitment and mental

strength to establish any new business, and when you are joining a brand that has been built around quality, as a franchisor we need to be confi dent that you have got what it takes as a franchisee to be the best. “We work extremely hard at head

offi ce to deliver industry-leading support that fast-tracks our business owners to breakeven point, and after working with Kevin, James, David, Keith and Kirsty in training, I know they will go out and hit the ground running.”

It could be you!

n Originally a general manager of a storage company, Lee Smith of Greensleeves Burton-on-Trent has been successfully running his lawn care franchise since March 2015. He says: “While at my previous company, a good friend and customer of mine mentioned franchise opportunities at Greensleeves Lawn Care. He was the lawn care expert for Greensleeves Sutton Coldfi eld and Solihull, and was using my company to store his materials. I saw how successful he had been and what he had achieved so far, so when my circumstances changed he pointed me in the direction of the Greensleeves head offi ce.

“I arranged to meet the directors after asserting an interest in the industry. It didn’t take me long to realise that this was a real possibility

for me and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in. During the initial meeting, we discussed both the positive and possible negative aspects of the business, so nothing was hidden. The management were knowledgeable, relaxed and approachable. I was particularly impressed by how confi dent and upbeat the company was as a whole, the service off ering and the levels of support and training they provided.

“Franchising has given me the opportunity to run my own business how I want and has provided me with the fl exibility needed for my young and energetic family. The key is putting in the hard work so you get the best results from your franchise. It’s reassuring to know that you have the support of the Greensleeves family should you need any help or advice, be it practical or administrative. What I fi nd remarkable about the Greensleeves network is that you can pick up the phone and speak to a fellow franchisee who knows fi rst hand what you’re experiencing and can pass on advice.

“Although I’ve only been a franchisee for a few years it has given me great satisfaction knowing that my hard work has resulted in an increase of customer numbers and a positive turnover year on year. I’ve certainly had no regrets so far and would recommend that anyone interested in franchising give it real consideration.”
