85 A new class of ink In the era of smart devices, it’s possible to record and analyse numerous indicators of health; but as of yet there’s little out there with the ability to flex and stretch alongside the musculoskeletal system, all while maintaining the conductive properties to sense and collect data on this movement. A team of researchers at Texas A&M University believe a new bioink could lead to devices that can do just that. Peter Littlejohns speaks to Dr Akhilesh Gaharwar, associate professor of biomedical engineering at the university, to find out how he and the team made the discovery, and what applications the conductive bioink could have in healthcare.
