Open to all pharmacies across Scotland, whether independent or part of a larger group, this category celebrates organisations that combine strong operational performance with initiatives that genuinely benefit the communities they serve.
Community pharmacies are often the most accessible healthcare providers in their locality. Judges therefore look for consistent performance across several dimensions: safe and effective service delivery, responsiveness to local need, innovation in practice and the ability to sustain high standards in an increasingly complex operating environment.
Strong entries clearly show how a well managed, financially sound business enables investment in services, workforce development and community outreach. Successful nominations typically demonstrate impact beyond routine dispensing.

Last year’s winner, Lochardil Pharmacy, epitomised modern community pharmacy practice. Serving Inverness and recognised by NHS Highland, the team demonstrated exceptional resilience, including maintaining service continuity during significant operational challenges.
Alongside this, they expanded clinical services such as Pharmacy First consultations and preventative screening initiatives, while investing in workforce development and collaborative
working across the region. Lochardil’s success reflected not a single project, but a sustained commitment to safe practice, patient centred care and proactive healthcare leadership.
Their ability to combine strong governance, innovation and community connection set a benchmark for the sector.
