PH SCOTTISHARMACY AWARDS

COMMITMENT TO HEALTH & WELLBEING

Advancing Care Through Pharmacy-Led Excellence

The Commitment to Health and Wellbeing Award recognises Independent Prescribing Pharmacists and their teams who are using their expertise to make a meaningful and sustained difference to patient care.

Open to prescribing pharmacists working as contractors, employees or in practice based roles, this category celebrates those delivering safe, accessible and innovative prescribing services that improve health and wellbeing outcomes across Scotland.

The award reflects the expanding clinical role of pharmacy within modern healthcare. Judges look for clear evidence of how pharmacist led interventions enhance patient outcomes, widen access to care and respond effectively to local population needs.

Strong entries demonstrate how prescribing capability, clinical insight and patient focused service design combine to support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Particular emphasis is placed on sustained impact rather than isolated initiatives. Successful nominations highlight long term engagement, preventative approaches and structured support for people living with chronic or complex conditions. Innovation is

encouraged where it delivers measurable benefit, whether through new clinic models, improved access pathways or targeted outreach to underserved communities.

Last year’s winner, Alison Cockburn, exemplified this commitment through her pharmacist led cardiovascular wellbeing clinics.

Her services supported patients with diabetes, hypertension and elevated cardiovascular risk, delivering structured reviews, therapeutic optimisation and personalised education. Clinical outcomes showed significant improvements in blood pressure and cholesterol levels, alongside greater patient confidence in self management.

By combining prescribing expertise with education and empowerment,

Alison strengthened both clinical care and long term wellbeing. Her work demonstrated how prescribing pharmacists can bridge the gap between medicine and public health, working collaboratively to relieve pressure on general practice while maintaining strong governance and patient safety standards.

As healthcare systems continue to prioritise prevention and community based care, the Commitment to Health and Wellbeing Award highlights the vital contribution pharmacists and their teams make every day.

By celebrating excellence in this category, Scottish Pharmacy recognises pharmacy professionals who lead with compassion, clinical excellence and sustained impact, helping to build healthier and more resilient communities.
