PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
Dear Fellow IIMS Members and Industry Colleagues,
It is with a mix of humility and excitement that I pen my first President's introduction for The Report Magaine. I'm honoured to follow in the footsteps of my esteemed predecessor, Peter Broad, whose tireless dedication – particularly in driving our ISO 9001 certification efforts – has paved the way for our continued success. I also want to acknowledge the exceptional work of our IIMS head office staff, led by our dynamic CEO, Mike Schwarz. Their expertise and commitment are the backbone of our organization.
A Commitment to Excellence: ISO 9001 Certification IIMS is proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 9001 certification. This validates our dedication to quality management systems, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. Whether
you're surveying a vast cargo vessel or a nimble pleasure craft, this certification underscores the consistent, high-quality service you can expect from IIMS member surveyors. It's a testament to our professionalism and a promise that we're constantly striving to raise the bar within our industry. This achievement would not have been possible without the vision and leadership of Mike, the support from Peter and the real work hours being put-in by Camella Robertson. We all remain deeply grateful for this contribution.
Pioneering Education: Expanding Horizons in Bangladesh While IIMS is concerned with upholding standards, we're also committed to fostering the next generation of maritime professionals. I'm thrilled to share that, thanks to Mike and Captain Zillur Rahman of Bangladesh, we've welcomed a cohort of nine
(possibly ten) new students into our award-winning Professional Qualification in Commercial Ship Marine Surveying program. This initiative exemplifies our global reach and dedication to providing world-class education, regardless of geographical boundaries. The qualification will be delivered in a hybrid method locally in Bangladesh. I want to extend my sincere thanks to Captain Zillur fand his colleagues or his instrumental role in making this happen.
Unity in Diversity: A Shared Purpose One of the most remarkable aspects of IIMS is the diversity of our membership. We unite surveyors from all corners of the marine world – from those who meticulously inspect cargo ships to those who ensure the safety and compliance of smaller vessels.
