New high-thrust MJP X-HT waterjet targets the crew transfer vessel market

Marine Jet Power (MJP) has launched a new waterjet, the X-HT. Designed for exceptional efficiency in low to medium speed applications (up to 35 knots), the new high thrust waterjet is particularly targeted at wind farm crew transfer vessels (CTVs) but has wider applicability for various workboats.

The X-HT continues the legacy of MJP’s X-Series, but is a high thrust

variant offering capabilities tailored for vessels that

require high thrust at slower speeds, making it well-suited for the specialized needs of wind farm support vessels.

The series has a compact design that allows for larger diameter jets to be installed in narrower hulls, optimizing performance without compromising space. Additionally, the lower-input power capability of the X-HT ensures it remains lightweight and cost-effective to operate.

“We are excited to expand our X-Series line with the high thrust (HT)variant,” said Jonas Tegström, CEO of MJP, adding that the new variant “combines our cutting-edge technology with practical enhancements that meet the evolving needs of our customers, particularly in the wind farm sector, providing superior efficiency and thrust in a compact, economic package.”

Cox Marine's 350 V8 diesel outboard has received Tier III approval from the US Environmental Protect

Cox Marine is proud to announce that the latest addition to its product line up, the 350 V8, a 350hp variant of its V8 diesel outboard architecture has successfully achieved EPA Tier III approval for commercial and recreational applications. The certification allows the British outboard and diesel pioneer to open its order book in anticipation of production, which commenced in August.

Adam Gurr, Product Portfolio Director at Cox Marine, added, "The V8 marked the dawn of a new era in outboard technology, offering a unique propulsion solution designed specifically for the marine industry. The 350 V8 showcases the potential of this platform with its advanced capabilities, setting a new standard for marine propulsion."

Volvo Penta unveils new D8 IMO III range

Volvo Penta has unveiled a number of new engine models in its popular D8 diesel range designed for smaller vessels that have thus far been exempt from IMO III regulations.

The new models, including the D8 IPS-600, D8 IPS-650, D8 IPS- 700, D8 450 hp, D8 510 hp and D8 550 models, utilise common- rail fuel injection and twin-entry turbo with charge air cooling to deliver power outputs of up to 550 horsepower. Although designed for commercial applications, the new engines could also have applications in the luxury yacht sector.

“As emissions control areas expand, vessels must comply with more stringent IMO III standards. Historically, there weren’t any IMO III solutions for smaller high- speed vessels, so they were exempt from restrictions. Now they must comply, so we have leveraged our IMO III technology for an expanded range of D8 solutions,” said Volvo Penta director of commercial marine, Jan-Willem Vissers.
