David Purdy has been associated with ships and boats most of his life. Starting in his youth, he built many ship models and two kayaks. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture at Webb Institute. Aſt er graduation, he went into the design of nuclear ships and their machinery, including USS Nautilus and the German nuclear ship, Otto Hahn. Since retirement, he has returned to his roots in maritime history and model building.
