A classic unforewarned evacuation (water landing) of a corporate aircraft was a GIII on Lac du Bourget,
France, 6 February 1998. The aircraft apparently descended below the glide slope and hit the water approximately 1.5 miles from shore. Upon impact the empennage and landing gear separated from the fuselage. There were three crewmembers and two passengers onboard. The aircraft remained afloat for three to four minutes; however, no flotation equipment was deployed. All occupants evacuated. The only injury was to the flight attendant who suffered a broken arm and fuel burns on her legs. A fisherman witnessing the crash rescued the five aircraft occupants by taking them aboard his boat.
