HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP IN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING

3 YEARS

The UK manufacturing sector employs 2.7 million people*, with an estimated 1.27 million engineers, scientists and technologists. Of these, around a third are employed in higher-level technical roles.

Despite the depth and breadth of this sector, it still faces challenges; the workforce is ageing and large numbers of higher-level technical workers are required to replace those retiring in England. In order to fill higher-level skills gaps, manufacturing employers have increased training activity/spend through programmes such as this Higher Apprenticeships framework.

On this apprenticeship, you will study modules such as analytical and scientific fundamentals, and further development of statics, dynamics, engineering materials and CAD. You will complete the Level 4 NVQ Diploma/ Extended Diploma, Level 4 HNC Diploma, HNC in Engineering and/or Foundation Degree in Engineering (the required combination of qualifications is determined by the pathway).

We can offer specialism in one of the following areas: Mechanical Electrical Maintenance

PROGRESSION

This apprenticeship provides excellent preparation towards professional registration as an Engineering Technician and progression to Incorporated Engineer registration via the Level 6 framework. It may also provide progression to a range of honours degrees. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) recognise that this apprenticeship provides the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to allow apprentices to apply for Engineering Technician status within their institutions.
