This course combines the disciplines of both business and events management. It focuses on the skills required to be a dynamic events manager, exploring many supervisory and management functions such as financial planning, event design and legal aspects.


Developing employability skills is a key aspect to this course. You will undertake a variety of live activities which will enhance your employability prospects. As an event management student, you will have the opportunity to plan and manage your own team event as part of professional practice and also participate in the implementation of GoldCoast Oceanfest.


Throughout the programme, you will study two modules: Introduction to the Events Sector and Hospitality for Events. The first module introduces the concept of the events market and explores the key trends and developments, as well as examining employment opportunities. In the second module, you will examine the role of hospitality within events management; you will get an exciting opportunity to plan and implement a group- themed event and design hospitality packages.


PROGRESSION


Upon successful completion, students may be able to progress onto the BA (Hons) Professional Development (Business & Management) at Petroc, or the BSc (Hons) Events Management, BA (Hons) Hospitality, Tourism and Events (top-up) or the BSc (Hons) Business Management (top-up) at the University of Plymouth.1

Are you a manager or aspiring to fill a managerial position? If the answer is yes, then this course is for you.


You will develop core management skills and learn how to apply them effectively in an organisational context. The flexibility of the course makes it ideal for those wanting to study alongside work.


Throughout the course you will study a wide range of modules, including Human Resource Management, Marketing Fundamentals, Organisational Behaviour, Business Accounting, and The Principles of Project Management.


The method of assessment varies between modules, but you can expect it to include coursework, essay questions, group reports, small group assessed discussions and formal examinations.
