ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN SCIENCE


FTT130 1 YEAR, FULL-TIME (3 DAYS PER WEEK)


This diploma provides a pathway onto a variety of degree courses to pursue a career in science-based professions. Depending on which modules you choose, you can expect to study subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and Sociology.


PROGRESSION


This course leads to a wealth of science-based careers and degree courses in, for example, human biosciences, medicine, pharmacy, chemical engineering, forensics, conservation biology & ecology, zoology, veterinary science, medicine, nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, podiatry, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, dietetics, nutrition, psychology and computer science.


ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING


FTT151 1 YEAR, FULL-TIME (3 DAYS PER WEEK)


On this programme you will choose from three of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Maths with a possibility of some Physics. In each of your chosen Level 3 subjects, you will take five modules over the year and, depending on what subjects you choose, you can expect to study: Biology: Biological Chemistry, Unicellular Life, Physiological Processes, Human Disease & Immunity and Inheritance. Chemistry: Structure & Bonding, Practical Inorganic Chemistry, Formulae, Equations & the Mole, Practical Organic Chemistry and Chemical Reactions, Maths (five from): Calculus, Engineering Maths, Number Systems, Algebra and Graphs, Further Calculus, Further Algebra and Nature of Functions.


Should there be sufficient demand, a range of Physics units could be included, for example, Mechanics, Nuclear Physics or Waves. We are happy to discuss any specific preferences you may have.


PROGRESSION


You can progress from this course to a variety of degree programmes in engineering, mechanical engineering, science and mathematics.
