University-Level Prospectus | FOUNDATION DEGREES FdSc LAW
AWARDING BODY: UNIVERSITY OF PLYMOUTH 8CR2
2 YEARS, FULL-TIME 3 YEARS, PART-TIME
The skills learnt on this course are transferable and can be applied to a wide range of careers within the legal and business world. It is ideally suited to those thinking about working in the legal department of a large organisation. It would also be perfect for someone who owns their own business.
This Foundation Degree will introduce you to a broad range of legal concepts, relevant in both legal practices, and also in business. Employability, practical and transferable skills feature highly, allowing you to offer real and appropriate skills whether in a legal or business environment.
The course will include a large practical element, and you will have the chance to visit court, learn how to complete court papers and hone interview and presentation skills. Mock trials will also be run. The course is not a qualifying law degree and anyone who wanted to pursue a career as a solicitor or barrister would need to complete additional study.

Students who achieve an overall aggregate grade of 40% or above in the Foundation Degree and achieve a pass in the bridging module for Law (currently LAW2026Q Legal Research and Materials) will be allowed to progress to stage 3 of the BSc (Hons) Law with Business at the University of Plymouth.1
